Kylie Jenkins is stuck in a long term relationship with her abusive boyfriend
Dylan McCain. She is determined to start a new life free of him. She and her
best friend,Courtney Conner, come up with an escape plan for her to start a new
life. The bonus to this plan? Well, she gets to see her first love again,
Courtney's twin brother, Cameron. Things move fast between Cameron and Kylie,
and fast is definitely what Cameron likes since he's an up and coming NASCAR
Kylie's life is starting to turn in the right direction, but she knows Dylan is
bound to seek revenge or get her back.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars
I'm not much into books with abusive relationships. I will let this one slide
with me, because she does decide to get herself out of it. And with that, the
story begins! I'm loving the rekindling of a teenage love. Cameron is a super
sexy book boyfriend that is also super smitten with his girl. Isn't that what we
all want in our minds? What more can we ask for? Wait, let's ask him to have a
super cool job as well! Let's make him a NASCAR driver! Oh that gets my engine
running! So, I'm totally good with the characters.
The story moved at a good pace for me. The book was well written. I got enough
background on the characters as the story progressed. There were tons of steamy
sex scenes. In fact, there was probably one on every other page. I stopped to
ask myself if there was just too much lovin' going on that it took away from the
story... NAH! The story flowed fine with all the steamy, hot scenes.
The ending was something I definitely didn't see happening. I thought I had
it all figured out in my head; just another obvious ending. Nope, I was
completely wrong. This is a cliffhanger, but that's okay. I'm going to jump
right into the next book in the series.
The only reason I couldn't give this book that fifth star was because I was
able to walk away from the book when it was time to eat, socialize, and sleep.
It didn't pull me into it to where I just couldn't put it down until the last 3
Over all this is an excellent read, and I am definitely going to hop right
into the next book! I recommend you read this and meet these wonderful

Kylie is done being abused-both psychologically and physically. She has been completely isolated by Dylan-and realizes how desperate the situation has become. With the help of her life long friend she escapes to Florida-and back into the arms of her first love.
I’m so enamored with Cameron. He is just a really good guy-who won’t be wasting his chance to finally get his girl.
The insta-steam between the two of them-WOW! That connection allows them to both be honest about their dormant love and it’s so wonderful to watch it bloom!
Of course, Dylan doesn’t just let Kylie go. His plan to continue his reign of terror is so disgustingly devious. As is his minion.
The end-f^##_^÷%/#€& cliffhanger!!! Literally held my breath as I read the final line. Now to wait for book 2……

I loved this book. Well done! The book is about heartbreak, new love and keeps you laughing with the bits of humor written into the book. Cameron and Kylie's relationship develops as well as others in the book. And the cliffhanger leaves you wanting so much more. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I didn't know what to expect when I 1st started this book. But, I ended up really, really enjoying it. This is Wendi's debut book & what a debut it was!
We start off with a very scared Kylie. Kylie has been in a relationship with Dylan. He keeps her prisoner in their apartment and uses her as a punching bag. Kylie has kept in touch with her childhood friends, twins Courtney & Cameron. They moved away years ago. She's best friends with Courtney. Cameron is her 1st & only real love she's ever had. After Kylie tells Courtney what's been going on, Courtney & Cameron buy her a one way ticket away from Dylan.
Once Kylie gets off that plane and see's Courtney it's like a huge weight lifted off her shoulders. Kylie & Courtney pick right back up like they just saw each other yesterday. Cameron on the other hand. He's a NASCAR driver & trying to get sponsors. So, until he can meet up with them at dinner he sets them up with a spa day. While Kylie is getting the massage of her life, the massage therapist gets a little too frisky. When she jumps up & turns around she sees the same eyes that she fell in love with all those years ago, Cameron. I must say I was very jealous of the massage that Kylie got. Hahaha!!
Thing's really, really pick up from there with Kylie & Cameron. That night when they go out to dinner, Cameron brings Blake. Cameron is thinking of renting a room to Blake and wants Courtney & Kylie's thoughts on him. Which is a automatic yes! Especially since Courtney noticed him playing volleyball on the beach that day & planned on trying to find him and get to know him if you know what I'm saying. **Wink Wink**
After Blake & Courtney go home together, Kylie ends up at Cameron's. From that night they very rarely leave each others side. The only times they're apart is when Cameron is trying to get the sponsors he needs & Kylie is with Courtney. They are either shopping or trying to find Kylie a job.
You'd think that everything is picture perfect. Well, guess again. Kylie is on edge! Every time she turns around she's either smelling Dylan's cologne, her stuff is moved or she feels like she is being followed. Everybody thinks she's just over reacting. Only Kylie knows how bad Dylan is. He always told her if she left him he'd find & kill her.
I really liked this story. I liked that it was in both Kylie & Cameron POV. I really did love their relationship. They really were so much in love & the sex!! They had such incredible sex! I mean WOW!! What I didn't like was how fast their relationship developed. I mean Kylie was with Dylan for 3 year. He beat the hell out of her for absolutely no reason. I don't know any woman that goes from being beaten on a daily basis. To starting a new relationship, even if you knew him when they were younger. I mean if you didn't know about Dylan, you'd never know she had it that bad. That was the only thing that annoyed me. That, and the cliffhanger!! What a cliffhanger it was too. I'm so mad that I have to wait until Spring to find out what happens next!!
"Kylie, I've never wanted someone as bad as I want you right now. You have no idea what you are doing to me. I just don't want to push things too fast and scare you away. I want to do things right, and cherish you."
"You make me feel things I have never felt before. I dreamed about what it would be like with you; however the dreams were nothing compared to reality. I'm certainly a lucky lady."

Tainted Desire by Wendi Hulsey is the first book in the Desire series. There is a cliffhanger from hell ending, by the way.
Oh well done Wendi, well done. I kept watching the percentage complete on my ereader, thinking how there would be a small conflict at the end and then a quick wrap up and Cameron and Kylie would live happily ever after and then you decided to drop that bomb. Ugh! Cliffhangers usually tick me off (in a good way) but this one in particular has me in a bit of a tizzy right now. Rant over!
Kylie is heading to Orlando International Airport to meet her childhood best friend Courtney. She's leaving Milwaukee and he dangerously abusive boyfriend far behind. It's either that or probably end up dead. She can't wait to see Courtney again, or Courtney's twin brother Cameron. He was her first love and he still has a very large home in her heart.
Cameron is no longer the young pubescent boy that shared a first-kiss with his twin sister's best friend. He's hot and he's a race-car driver and he's more than ready to sweep Kylie off her feet. He doesn't want to push too much, after all, she is fresh out of an abusive relationship, but he wants her bad.
I love all the Florida/Orlando/Daytona/Publix references. I'd have liked to have read a shout-out to Universal Studios along the way, but that's my preference as I work there and LOVE it! There were a few times that the story seemed a little bit contrived, but for the most part it was a pleasurable read and had a couple of twists I did not see coming.

I was so excited when Wendi Hulsey asked me to review Tainted Desire, I had seen her around and heard of the book and wanted to read it so when asked I jumped at the chance immediately. Tainted Desire is HOT! Like ohmigod, Cameron is all kinds of YUM! I mean he's the sweet but really sexy guy you just want to lock up. Too bad he's Kylies! I love Kylie's character at first you think oh no not one of those whiney girls running away from her abusive boyfriend, No she is not one of them, she's strong, independent and determined. I love that she doesnt let Dylan's abuse destroy who she is. Then there's Cameron's parents who you think immediately are going to be some snooty patooties because they come from money but they really surprise because they are so loving and caring. I wont giveaway too much more but this is one story you have to read because the cliffhanger leaves you wanting to much more. I can't wait to read the sequel, Wendi Hulsey has really out done herself. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This story begins with heartbreak, the man kylie fell in love with isn't who she though he was, turns out he is an abusive bastard and she must flee to save her own life and be happy. She contacts her childhood friends Courtney and Cameron. They pull together and help her make her great escape. From there she has to learn to stand on her own and become independent. She struggles with this and the need that she has for the sexy racecar driver Cameron. I don't want to give too much away, but it will take you an a wild ride, this story made me laugh, cry and left me sexually charged. Chapter 12 is my favorite chapter. Go read it to find out why!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
