The first four essays contained in this work were originally published in Possible Side Effects and Magical Thinking. The collection was a humorous one; and if you are a first time reader of Augusten Burroughs, definitely try them out! If you are purchasing this to have access the "never been published" fifth essay, you should note that it is only a page or two long. As hoped, the fifth is funny, but not the rich work a collector of Burroughs' would hope for. Instead, the joke is on the buyer, as advertizing strategist Burroughs sneaks in a book jacket sized new release padded by already high selling favorites. The joke was an affordable one: the price is beyond reasonable, and I hope he sells many!

Loved the short stories in this compilation. But if you've already read some of his material, you should look into which books these stories are from.
(though, there still is the one extra story in this compilation that isn't already published)

Granted I've only read the first two essays, but this stuff is not entertaining. It's not the least bit funny, so I'm wondering if maybe it's not supposed to be. On the other hand, if these are just stories, and they're not intended to be humorous, they don't offer anything else of value either.
