Overview

The compelling sequel to No More Time-Outs finds Wisdom Jones accepting the terms of a deadly proposition from his old enemy: a life for a life.

Wisdom Jones’s mother needs a kidney and the only donor is one of his old enemies, Highnoon, who offers the organ for the chance to kill Wisdom. Jones accepts the proposition, but issues a stipulation of his own: he wants one week to intervene in the lives of his trifling family members and steer them away from a pathway of destruction.

With only a limited time on earth, Wisdom is left with the task of saving the marriage of his only sister from the wrath of her thuggish lover. The next ones will be tricky, but somehow, Wisdom must manage to convince his baby brother to give up the crack pipe and persuade his elder brother from living a very dangerous lifestyle. But the true test will lie in convincing his television evangelist father that pimping from the pulpit can be costly; a forbidden appetite that could ultimately turn fatal.

Take One for the Team leaves Wisdom Jones matching wits with deadly adversaries in an attempt to free his family from the hand of destruction and deliver them into the land of righteousness.

    Carousel of Madness

Highnoon, a childhood friend turned enemy of Wisdom's, has offered to help save Mama Jones' life. He doesn't require much, just a big heaping order of revenge. Wisdom struggles with the decision but decides that if anyone deserves a second chance, it is his mother. His only stipulation is that he wants time to make his family whole. Highnoon gives Wisdom a week to get his family back on solid ground. Will seven days be enough time to help this family?

Wisdom has his hands full as he tries to devise a plan to reach out to his family. It becomes difficult as he's literally chasing each member around Detroit trying to save them from drugs, thugs, husbands as well as themselves all the while dodging his trifling baby mama, and checking in on his own ailing mother. Just when Wisdom thought that he was making headway, he learns that his plan may not come to fruition and inserts a just in case clause of his own. Will Wisdom be able to outwit the devil?

TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM picks right up where its predecessor NO MORE TIME - OUTS stopped. As I previously stated, Slater has a unique voice and this storyline is definitely tipping the different scale. I love that way the story builds and how you get to see the transformations. While it was too fairytale like in the end, it was a good follow-up.
