Overview

Sometimes you just have to take life one cupcake at a time.

Kate Shannon is happy with the way things are. Granted she lost her parents at a young age, but she has made a good life for herself which includes a legacy of misheard song lyrics and a malfunctioning gaydar. Kate doesn't have a Mr. Right, or even a Mr. Right Now, but what she does have is a thriving bakery in Greenwich Village called Take The Cake, and that's just the way she likes it. Better still is the competition with her barista as they try to outsmart each other every morning with their cupcake/quote war. Firing shots like Woodstock Afterburn and Vegan Rehab is enough to keep her on her toes. Who has time for dating?

Across town, Michael Forrester has gone from enjoying the thrill of success to wallowing in the depths of despair. With a collection of critically acclaimed novels in his wake, Michael now spends his days battling writer's block, avoiding his publisher's calls whenever possible. With nowhere to go and nothing to write, Michael's just in time to find exactly what he didn't know he was looking for. What happens next is what you get when you combine friendship, cupcakes, and good coffee with a substance called 'the eternal breath,' all mixed up in a city like New York. Forget what you know about love, and take the cake.

    Slow and boring

This book took so long to develop and was quite boring and predictable.

    good book

The book seemed to be a little too long. It could possibly have been told in a slightly shorter way. That said, it was very funny to see what cupcakes were in response to the quotes that were written daily. The story was a good love story without any major drama.

I have read Sandra Wright's Take the Cake before, and when I saw that she had it published, I just had to get it. I love the story and couldn't put it done. This is a great read and I would recommend it to anyone.

    TC is amazing!!!!

What I had first noticed was there was 1001 pages--they were 1001 pages of AWESOMENESS! I absolutely loved the book and I would recommend it to almost anyone. When you go on her website (which the URL is at the end of the book), the cupcake recipes are to die for! I couldn't believe they were real at first, but they are! You will definitely have a great time reading about the three girls and their struggles to love.

You have to check this book out!

This is such a creative story full of memorable, well developed characters and an original plot line. Sandra Wright has done a stunning job of blending humor, the search for Mr. Right and Mr. Right now, with jealousy evoking friendships and a delicious love of cupcakes. You won't be disappointed!

    Highly Recommended

Sandra has taken a step from cyberspace into my space, and is now residing on my bedside table.

I 1st. read her story on FanFiction and was immediately drawn into the life of the characters. I was able to, laugh, cry and feel the love emitted from the pages of "Take The Cake".

I would recommend purchasing two copies, one for yourself and one to entice others with.

I want to read Wrens story!

Book was great btt my ebook had page glitches, WOuld have loved an appentixe with all the amazing quotes and the names and recipes for the corresponding cupcakes! As a Long Island, NY, reader I thought this new author was wonderfully moving, laugh out loud fun, and sweet. As a tea drinker, the shop is one I will revisit again a new author for the keeper shelf, though its true a little more time on the secondary characters was needed for polish, its a delight!!! Now to hope for Wrens story, And to reread to see just what that second gift to Kate was beyond the basic description...gold, silver, pearl or other. I just cannot believe Wren would not have helped design that as well. Not to be missed!!!
