This book was God-sent for such a time as this both personally and professionally. I see God's hand in my life and in this world. I pray He would continue to MOVE in our hearts and lives. May we make our hearts His home as we rest in surrender in His arms of love. Thank you, Dr. Carson, for truly '...loving your fellow man, caring for your neighbor, and living a life of service by developing your God-given talents to the point that you become invaluable to the people around you.' You are His instrument and I enjoyed reading the book. He used it to feed and encourage me and I sincerely pray that He would use it to impact people's lives worldwide. He has blessed us with brains and as you have shared with us, I pray we would use it wisely and effectively. Folks, this is a must read!! It is edifying and at the same time, there is a sense of true fellowship as we hold fast our confession per Hebrews 10:19-25. Even though we may not know where we are going, God is good...I pray we would take each step by faith and not by sight in obedience (Hebrews 11:8). I am encouraged reading this book--both personally and professionally--and pray, Lord willing, you will be too! Excerpt from page 233: 'Dostoevsky was right. Without faith and values by which to weigh the answers of our B/WAs, there is no way to conduct a valid or meaningful risk analysis. For if there is no right or wrong, there can be no best or worst. That's a risk none of us should be willing to take.' Thank you and God bless.

You don¿t have to be a brain surgeon to know life is an uninterrupted sequence of guaranteed risks. Ben Carson, in Take the Risk takes his role as a neurosurgeon up a notch as he reveals how operating in sync with your grey matter will draw you toward diving into the risks that are worth taking and passing on the ones that take you on a downward spiral. He acknowledges that everything is risky. Even to resolve to do nothing can be a hazardous choice. Tied to real life stories as concrete proof, he proposes we apply what he calls Best/Worst Analysis to the options we face. Simple enough that a child can easily adopt, it asks these 4 questions: What is the BEST thing that can happen if I DO this, what is the WORST thing that can happen if I DO this, what is the BEST thing that can happen if I DON¿T do this, and what is the WORST thing that can happen if I DON¿T do this. For those more complex questions, he recommends we consider who, what, where, when, why and how in the context of the Best/Worst Analysis application. He advocates that removing our egos from the equation often leads to the best answer by replacing emotional investment with logical thinking. What works every time with this model is that it causes you to pause and think before you make your move¿or choose to stay put. Take the Risk uncovers the evidence that by using your brain to bring risk factors into sharp focus, fear and foolishness drift out of the picture. The result is a vibrant illustration of an exciting life made possible by the brush of intelligent risk taking. Ben Carson makes the point that when we zoom into what defines success, we find that it involves risks taken and overcome. So get yourself into the picture, read Take the Risk, and imagine using your insight to capture your wisest decisions.

Dr. Ben Carson is a neurosurgeon who encourages his readers to use their brain in judging and analyzing risks that should be taken and those that should be stayed away from. Using powerful anecdotes from the risks he takes every day with his profession and from the high- risk life he lived as a child in Detroit, Carson helps readers see they can take healthy risks everyday that will allow them to grow.

This book provides the reader with the necessary steps to help them make better informed decision, espcially when it comes to taking some very rsiky steps. Dr. Carson writes about the four questions that he recommends everyone to ask themselves before making a risky move and if there is a small amount of risk then take the step. It is a great book.

Overview
Know risk, reap the rewards.
In our risk-avoidance culture, we place a high premium on safety. We insure our vacations. We check crash tests on cars. We extend the warranties on our appliances. But by insulating ourselves from the unknown---the risks of life---we miss the great adventure of living our lives to their ...
