Opening appropriately with Dinah Washington's "Stairway to the Stars," this collection of songs from the 2002 alien abduction-themed television miniseries Taken spans six decades of popular music. This hodgepodge of '50s novelty hits, Sheb Wooley's "Purple People Eater," and counterculture standards from the likes of Love, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead have a hard time coexisting -- this may be the only commercial compilation brave enough to include Emmylou Harris and the Stooges.
