Text and photographs present information discussing hair, and reviews how to keep hair healthy.
Children's LiteratureThis is a very simple book that may be useful in the classroom for primary students. In very short sentences, accompanied by very large photographs, readers are told what hair is, how it grows, and how to clean your hair and keep it healthy. Provided at the end of the book are a glossary, an index, and suggested additional reading. Also included is an Internet site, www.facthound.com, with a special code to look for age appropriate Web sites on the topic. The book format is nice and large, which should make for easy class sharing. It would also be a good choice for beginning readers to practice on their own. Part of the "Keeping Healthy" series. 2006, Capstone Press, Ages 4 to 7.
School Library JournalPreS-Gr 2-These simple books will be useful in classrooms to help educate youngsters about personal health and hygiene. The large, colorful photographs of young children accompany brief, first-person texts, presented in bold, black font against pastel pages. While the oversized format lends these books to group sharing, some children may be able to read them on their own.-Christine E. Carr, Lester C.
