This is more a collection of theological essays on the experience of Black Catholics in the United States than a sociological-historical reflection. Nevertheless, while the authors assume a certain amount of theological background in their readers, the essays are noteworthy for their contribution to Catholic thought from those who are Black Americans. For those more interested in a general history of Black Catholics in the United States, check out the book by that same name by Fr. Cyprian Davis, OSB.
