You'll walk through creating a personal action plan for improvement -- and then systematically making the most of your strengths, working around your weaknesses, and supercharging your personal performance! If you're already familiar with DISC, this book will help you use it more effectively than ever before. If you're new to DISC, it will change your life -- just as it has for thousands before you!

Not only have I used the DISC Profile for many years, I have read many books on DISC and related topics. Most of these books are heavy in theory and often make it difficult to understand and apply the learning. Taking Flight was wonderfully written. The fable is very engaging and easy to read. It not only teaches the reader about the 4 DISC styles, it teaches the reader how to adapt behaviors to create better relationships with those around them. I truly believe these skills are extremely important for all student while in school but more importantly for student upon graduating and entering the workforce. If I were to recommend one book for ALL students to read to help them build better relationships (personally and professionally), this is the one. My compliments to the authors as they created something very unique and made learning fun.
This is the kind of book that every student should read BEFORE they even begin their college experience. In the first half of the book, Rosenberg & Silvert do a great job of symbolically representing the four personality styles as birds. In the second half, they not only show how to use the styles at work and in relationships, but also how students can use these styles at school. As a New Student Orientation Director, I can't help but think how useful this knowledge would be for all students as they transition into college. I love the idea that they would learn how to better understand their professors, roommates, and project team members. Taking Flight is a must read for every college student.
The beauty of this book is its impact on how it can help in business and personal relationships - it's a business book and a self-help book all in one. In terms of who I would recommend this book to...well just about everyone that works with people and has friends or family. Yes, I know this is just about everybody but I do feel that everybody has something to gain by taking the time to read this book. I know that I will retain and utilize the concepts in this book at work and in personal relationships for two primary reasons; a) it helps me understand the behavioral style of others so I can treat them the way the want to be treated and b) I'm better able to accept and utilize my own strengths based on my behavioral style.
(Okay, sorry) She runs over and bites it. Pulling hard. "Will you be able to bring it back with your twisted paw?"she looks at him with a worried expression.(are you a wolf or a fox)
As a psychology and history teacher with more than 11 years experience with high school students, I most highly recommend this to anyone about to leave high school. If you're heading into college or the work force, this book will help you better understand yourself and those around you, helping to smooth the bumpy road ahead. Looking for a great graduation gift? This is it!
No wonder American business is collapsing, because of time wasted on this garbage. This book is a thinly disguised sales pitch for an even bigger money waster. This book is a great argument for the abolition of MBA programs altogether. Try more actual work, less worthless bs. As for the fable, only an MBA would take sixty plus pages to realize a beaver cut down the trees, unable to grasp even the most obvious of facts while trying to create a resume for themselves and misery for everyone who has the misfortune to work with them.
