When Beatrix Potter wrote and illustrated The Tale of Peter Rabbit, she had little idea how popular this story and the 22 which followed it would immediately become. Overview

When Beatrix Potter wrote and illustrated The Tale of Peter Rabbit, she had little idea how popular this story and the 22 which followed it would immediately become. Each of the 23 Tales has reprinted over 100 times, and in the 80 or so years since their initial publication, much of the delicate brushwork and detail has disappeared from the pictures.

To remedy this, Frederick Warne has located Beatrix Potter's original artwork, and photographed it to produce these wonderful new edition of her stories. Thanks to modern printing techniques, her illustrations appear just as freshly as when they were first painted, and confirm Beatrix Potter's place as the most celebrated children's artist of the century.

The six Flopsy Bunnies have a narrow escape from Mr. McGregor's garden.

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 1—The classic stories have been newly illustrated in a larger format. Rasmussen's illustrations emulate the delicacy and intricacy of the animal world that Beatrix Potter originated while at the same time reflecting certain human characteristics through the subtleties of facial expression. The texts are in an accessible large font against a white background bordered by a thin pale green border. Pictures are both interspersed within the text and also full page on the same pale green background. Still, Potter's work in the original Warne publications remains the standard for these stories. Biographical information about Potter and her legacy is appended.—Rita Soltan, Youth Services Consultant, West Bloomfield, MI

It is said that the effect of eating too much lettuce is "soporific". I have never felt sleepy after eating lettuces; but then I am not a rabbit.

They certainly had a very soporific effect upon the Flopsy Bunnies!

    Awful

Not a pleasant book for children. A rabbit married his cousin and a farmer wanted to cause the bunnies pain and cut off thier heads and sell them for tobacco? Horrible

Very hard words for even a second grader

Words are used that most kids have never heard. If asked ti read without being read to very difficult to do so.

Highly Recommended - your child will love it!

A fun story that will have children laughing and learning at the same time. A very nice recorded version also.

    won't work on all devices

Nowhere does it mention that this story can't be read on Nexus 10 - until you get it in your library and attempt to open it. Disappointing.

    Leader's den

This is Amberstar's den. In the middle of te den, there are two moss padded nests, one for Amberstar and one for her mate (if she gets one). The entrace is blocked by a sheet of lichen, and a pile of prey is next to her nest, accompanied by a peice if moss soaked in water. Apprentice will keep the pile stocked. In the rest of the den, there are areas where Amberstar can talk to her clanmates.
