A translation of short stories by the well-known Indonesian author, Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Written in the 1950s, these stories are intensely regional in flavor and modern in approach. This collection includes such works as "Stranded Fish," "Creatures Behind Houses," and the great "Ketjapi."

This Pramoedya Ananta Toer's colection of short stories was one of his expressive works. He told about Jakarta city in the post revolution era, in the year 1945-1950. Jakarta that he told was the city with it's people who find their own essencial lives in the streets, friendships, offices, pappers. Yet they got just a sadness, brutality, 'amok', and another unconsciousness time of their lives. The Pramoedya's powerfull telling talent can bring you all to feel everything about Jakarta, the Capital of the country who find it's identity, the country that now called as Indonesia.
