Overview

Margaritaville may not appear on a map, but it does exist--at least in the brilliantly creative, sometimes slightly skewed imagination of Jimmy Buffett. Tales from Margaritaville is a collection of short stories (some purely fiction, some based in truth) so vividly packed with restless dreamers, wild wanderers, and pure gypsy souls that just reading it is a wild adventure. Travel along with a cowboy named Tully Mars, as he heads from Heartache, Wyoming, to Graceland, and relive the autobiographical odyssey of a third-generation sailor and first-rate musical outlaw. With unforgettable stories that present the true roamer's twin loves--the sea and the road--Tales from Margaritaville is one "smooth sailing book of infinite imagination" (Chicago Sun-Times).

Meet the Author

Singer/songwriter/author Jimmy Buffett has become a legend of popular culture as the composer of such classic songs as "Margaritaville" and "Cheeseburger in Paradise." He has recorded more than thirty albums, most of which have gone gold, platinum, or multiplatinum, and his sold-out concert tours are an annual rite of summer for his fans. In addition to his musical credits, Buffett is also one of only six authors who have had number-one New York Times bestsellers in both fiction (Where Is Joe Merchant?) and nonfiction (A Pirate Looks at Fifty).

I have read some of Jimmy’s books and I am a huge fan of his. You may label be a Parrothead and I will wear it with pride. Tales from Margaritaville is a journey for dreamers and adventurers to let your imagination and your inner child run wild and free. Join us in this wonderfully fun walkabout with Jimmy Buffett. Everyone asks, “Where is Margaritaville?” It is in the minds and souls of all us beach lovers. We will spend a lot of time In Heat Wave, Alabama, we will also travel from the west to the east coast, visit Wyoming with Tully Mars and cruise the Carribbean. You will meet the Swamp Creature, enjoy some football, play some golf and sail the seas. You will smell the ocean and the swamp and feel the cool tropical breezes as we travel through the imagination of a third-generation sailor. So many of the destinations are familiar. I have lived in Alabama, been to Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, traveled to Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Cancun, cruised the Carribbean and had a cocktail or two at Pusser’s in Tortola. I loved it! It brought back many memories and gave me thoughts for the future. All the time I was reading, his songs were playing through my head and I had a smile on my face, even when I was worried about them being stranded on the seas in a terrible storm. I had confidence that Jimmy would prevail. So, hop aboard and let the adventure begin!

From the mind which brought you the tastiest cheeseburger there is comes “Tales from Margaritaville”, a mix of fictions and real stories from Jimmy Buffett.  The stories are a fun escape from everyday life and take you away to a warm tropical island where you get to meet zany characters who take you on a fun ride.  Required reading for any parrothead!

This will not be the best work of fiction you have ever read, but it is still quite fun and a great way to get lost in Margaritaville (a place many of us actually hope exists in some remote corner of the planet). It is great for a vacation or just as a weekend read to escape the winter blues for a short time. If you are Buffett fan, you will enjoy seeing some of his songs come to life and wonder just how much of this is actually fiction. This book may be best enjoyed with a margarita and a great imagination.

This is a great read, by Buffett. I read this after his biography, and it matched up perfectly, well, with his attitude. These short stories keep you going from one chapter to the next. Get it, read it, live it.

This book is the best book of short stories I've ever read. Even though I live in California, it's as though I was right there in every story, A great read.

As a person who grew up and still lives on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, this book hits close to home. Jimmy talks about places that I know well. This is what the 'Real' Gulf Coast is like. This is an outstanding book of short stories. It will grip you from start to finish.

I never realy got into Jimmy Buffett untill my best firend introduced me about a year ago. His music is amazing and his stories are just as good. I loved the book and I plan on reading many more.

Jimmy Buffett is an unbelievable author. I was skeptic when I was given this book. I thought of Buffett as a singer and songwriter, not author. This book is amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Buffett music.
