It is often said that while Dr. James Naismith invented basketball in Massachusetts, the sport was raised and ultimately came of age in the high schools of Indiana, the state where politics, religion, and sweet corn fall in line behind the game played with the round orange ball. Tales from Indiana High School Basketball, now newly revised, centers on those special people who have played the game—their stories, their passion, their drive for excellence, their laughs, and their tears. This is a book about Lebanon schoolboy hero Rick Mount, the first prep basketball player ever featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated; it’s about Gene Cato, the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s former commissioner whose father—his high school coach—would not put the young scoring phenomenon into a game until his team’s fans demanded it; it’s also about Marion’s “Purple Reign”—consecutive state championships in 1985, 1986, and 1987 when the Giants were the most important game on every opponent’s schedule. John Wooden, Bobby Plump, Steve Alford, Damon Bailey—it’s as easy for an Indiana high school basketball fan to roll the names off the tongue as it is to find the broadcast of a high school game on AM radio on any Friday night during an Indiana winter. Tales from Indiana High School Basketball is not so much about statistics and winning streaks as it is about the personalities and emotions of those who created a phenomenon that became a way of life in the Hoosier State.

Tikal- What are you guys doing here?*She asked again. An hour ago Tikal woke up to her phone buzzing in her ear. She got up and answer it. It was Vanilla asking if she had seen Cream. When Tikal sayed no Vanilla went crazy.*
Calm down. I'll go grap the others and meet you at your house.* Vanilla hung up, she called Knuckles*
Knuckles- Tikal this better be good.
Tikal- Cream is missing.
Knuckles- What!*He sounded wide awake*
Tikal- Can you grap the others and meet me at Cream's house?
Knuckles- Sure.*He hung up. Tikal got dressed and lefted. When she got to Cream's house she saw Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, Silver, Shadow, and for some reason Scourge at the house talking to Vanilla*
Sonic- So there both gone?
Silver- Seems like it.
Tikal- What's going on?
Knuckles- Tails is missing as well as Cream.
Amy- That's what I sayed.
Scourge- Well enough chatting. We need to find them. Sonic, Amy, and Knuckles take uptown. Shadow and Silver take down town. Me and Vanilla will take the back roads.
Tikal- And me?
Scourge- Other places. Woods, lake, beach ect. Now go!*Everyone takes off. Tikal starts off with the beach because it was the closest. She didn't think she would find any of them but here they were sleeping on a rock with Tails's arm around Cream*
Tikal- Cream, tell me.*Cream sighed and told Tikal how her small crush with Tails came into a full blow relationship*
Tikal- Aww! How sweet!
Cream- Yea. He even gave me this.*points to her charm*
Tikal- He's a sweet guy Cream.
Cream- He is.
Tikal- Well I need to call the others. You wake up Tails be thankful that we don't have school till Wednesday.*gets out her phone and walks a little way off*
Cream- Tails?*shakes him*Please wake up.
Tails- Huh? Oh My God! It's dawn already?!
Tails- My bad. I didn't mean to fall asleep.
Cream- No worrys.*she repiled. Tikal looked at her phone. It was 7:50am. She called Vanilla.*
Tikal- Found Cream at the beach. Hurry.
Vanilla- Okay. *she calles Knuckles*
Tikal- Found them.
Knuckles- Alright.*He hangs up and Tikal waits with Cream and Tails*
Knuckles- Nice to know you guys are okay.*he saids as he walks up*
Tails- Yea. Sorry about that.
Knuckles- As long as you two are okay.
Cream- We're fine.
Vanilla- And I'm glad you are.
Cream- Mom!*hugges her*
Vanilla- Cream, you gave me a heart attack.
Amy- She did for all of us.
Cream- Hey Amy.
Amy- Nice to see your okay. You to Tails.
Sonic- Only thing I want to know is why the were here?
Amy- You ask to many questions.
Sonic- What! No I don't.*Knuckles came up beside Tikal*
Tikal- Remember how we used to fight like that.
Knuckles- Yea. But that was so long ago. I learned the hard way not to mess with you. Anyway I better get back home before the sun rises all the way or I'm going to be cranky.
Tikal- Of course Knuckles. God only knows if someone gets between you and sleep.
Knuckles- Wait. What do you mean by that?
Scourge- She means your annoying.
Knuckles- YOU WANT TO GO GREEN BOY!
Scourge- Sure. If you can catch me.*runs a few feet away from Knuckles*Come on Knucklehead!*Knuckles chases after Scourge. Everyone laughs and so did Tikal. Everyone would always ask her how she can date someone like Knuckles. Her answer would always be the same.*
Tikal- Because he loyal to me then any other boy.
Person- So? A lot boys are loyal.
Tikal- Not like him and we have a history together. *then she will walk away leaving them staring after*
