Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Laura Hummel
In Talbott's fourth book in the "Tales of King Arthur" series, Lancelot emerges as the ever popular hero of Arthurian legend. Orphaned as a baby and rescued by the Lady of the Lake, Lancelot is introduced to the king at eighteen and promises service to Arthur. The handsome young man immediately becomes Queen Guinevere's champion and proves himself in one amazing quest after another, battling giants and rogue knights, saving ladies and the queen herself. After teasing from fellow round table knights, Lancelot leaves to search for new adventures. He rescues Elaine the Fair, a beautiful princess; saves her lands from a dreaded serpent, and wears her colors during a tournament. Guinevere is enraged and Lancelot flees into the forest in disgrace. Madness threatens to destroy the hero until he is rescued by Elaine and healed by the power of the Holy Grail. Talbott's passionate and compelling adventure is enhanced by his own dramatic watercolor illustrations. Children will surely delight in the engaging story of the popular legend.
