Amanda is the sole survivor of an intergalactic shuttle's crash landing on an unknown planet and has become the reluctant guest of Prince Paxdon. Unfortunately, due to her lack of deference to him and her refusal to help with the development of weapons for his army, she finds herself banned from the Palace. She goes to the place most familiar to her, Brannon's laboratory and small living space. There she lives in exile, working occasionally with Dohmas, a palace employee the Prince has sent her. Together they formulate a plan to provide meaningful and productive work for the females of the society, long considered useless by the Telenians, by creating a Royal Needlework Academy. Now they just need to convince the Prince of their plan's value. This story is the second book in The Tales of Telenia series and continues the story of how Amanda is faring on this strange world. There are new characters introduced in this story, most enjoyably that of Dohmas, as well as the familiar characters of Brannon and the Princr. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Amanda Shelton returns in this second "Tales of Telenia" book. For me, it was like visiting an old friend. Lorraine Bartlett is an exceptional storyteller. She grabs the reader right away and makes you feel this book. Amanda's views towards Prince Paxdon soften in this second book, but she still is determined and as strong-minded as ever. Still so far away from home, she begins another project to help the people of Telenia. Danger lurks around her, meanwhile. This book has a little of everything.... a little romance, a little adventure, and some great writing! It's definitely a page-turner. This is one of those books that you read a few times, because it's just so good!

What would you do if your spaceship crash-landed on an alien planet? This is the story of a very intelligent woman and her acclimation or should I say non-acclimation on a planet quite different from earth. Faced with imprisonment, strange fruits and vegetables, and a misogynistic society, Amanda wends her way toward an uncertain future. The first in a new series is a good read.
