Nolan is a Justice born in what once was the free nation of Sinjaria. Orphaned in the war of conquest with the nation of Hamis, he traveled to far Talianna and secured the right to become a Justice. Now, years later, the Master of all Talions has a dangerous assignment for Nolan: he is to guard the life of the king who destroyed Sinjaria and slaughtered his family. Alone, Nolan ventures into the political maelstrom that is the court of Hamis to stop an assassin even his Masters think cannot be slain...

    Unreadable

I gave this book two stars for the simple fact that I have read the book, multiple times, in hardcover and loved it.
Buyer/reader beware, this digital copy has one side completely cut off. Until this is fixed you are wasting your money in buying it.
I did read the past write-ups and thought "how bad could it be" my answer is "completely awful and thoroughly unreadable".

    Very Disappointed

The ebook formating is off. To have several words missing at the end of each line makes it unreadable. I expect better from B&N.

The book is great, but like a few people have already said, the ebook has some issues with the formatting as lines go off the page and can't be seen. I recently bought a Nook HD+ and it still is a problem, even if you switch to a two page view.

    Can't re-read this book enough!!!!

Although, I enjoy his novels, I am a firm believer that this stand alone novel is by far his best work ever. I find myself re-reading this book at least two to three times a year. The story is not only mesmerizing, but layered in a way you can see how this characters' moral compass has been created through adversity. I would truly love to see another novel about other Talions.

    Good book, lousy formatting

I read this book many years ago as a mass market paperback and loved it. I was overjoyed to discover the ebook and bought it for my nook tablet, along with the ebook Once A Hero. I immediately had formatting issues with both having the right side of the text being chopped off. The file for Once A Hero was finally fixed about six months ago and reads fine on my Nook tablet. Talion-Revenant is still messed up on my tablet and now that I have transitioned to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 I had hoped that a new device might format the file correctly, but sad to say it is still messed up. So my recommendation is not to purchase this until the publisher finally gets around to fixing this.

    Ebook Bad formatting

Doesn't matter if it is good or not when you cant see all the words on the screen. Checked sample after seeing other reviews. Months later still a bad file. Stackpole is losing some money because of shoddy work B&N wont fix.

a part of me wonders if I would have enjoyed this book more if it had been set in an already established setting where the author didn't have as much freedom to create.

In looking for a starting point to try reading more fantasy works, I thought I'd start with someone who's writting style hasn't proven a problem for me in the past. I came to this book as a fan of the author's work on the Star Wars X-Wing series. And now, a part of me wonders if I would have enjoyed this book more if it had been set in an already established setting where the author didn't have as much freedom to create.

I sit here trying to think of a reason why I didn't like this book more. I don't think there was one big thing that I can point to and say that "this is my problem with it". I think it was just a lot of little things that added up over the course of book. Things like deciding to use "fantasy language word" for fairly mundane item for several chapters before explaining what it means and the significance of why the word is being used. Or spending an entire chapter on world building that doesn't actually have any kind of payoff for the story.

    Hope he writes the sequel!

Read it dozens of times, wore out one paperback and had to get a second. Then when I got my nook it was one of my first purchases. One of my favorite stories!

    Books broken

The format is still screwed up. Loved this book before but someone stole my copy, I was excited when I found it in the store and now I'm trying to figure out how to get my money back bc its completely unreadable on an ereader. DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY ON THIS PURCHASE.
