Overview

When the mother that abandoned them years ago suddenly shows up and moves them to New Hampshire, Madison has no choice but to go or lose her brother and sister. Shoving her dreams aside yet again, Madison tries to make a life for her siblings only to find that nothing is going the way it should. It's really cold, her fifteen year old sister acts like a hooker in training, men act funny around her, her boss is a real jerk, she feels like an outsider, her best friend turns out to be a mouthy sixteen year old and the incredibly handsome guy renting the room adjoining hers not only hogs the bathroom taking three showers a day and leaving her with cold water, but he also has a secret. A secret that she becomes a bit obsessed with and can't let go no matter how many times she's warned off.

Detective Ephraim Williams learned long ago not to show any emotion or allow himself to get attached to humans. What was the point? They came and went and he remained. This time wouldn't be any different or so he thought. When his land lady told him her grandchildren were moving in he didn't expect much, well other than to be left alone. What he didn't expect was to have to fight blood lust every time he so much as caught a whiff of his delectable neighbor's scent or her bombarding him with questions every time she cornered him. If that's not bad enough a Master from his past has found him once again and is demanding his blood and is willing to do anything to get it, even using the beautiful irritating neighbor that makes him feel more than pain for the first time in centuries.

Editorial Reviews

Rhonda Valverde
The dialogue was excellently written and I found myself laughing many times throughout the book because of the sarcasm and exasperation the characters displayed with each other. There were parts of the story towards the end that felt rushed, but not enough that it took away from the overall enjoyment of the book. I felt there could’ve been more information given to us about the “Sentinels” and “Pytes”. The end of the book was left pretty open so I’m hopi

    A great read

After reading the synopsis I was intrigued and happy to say I was not disapointed. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. I instantly fell inlove with Ephraim and Madison. I really enjoyed the fact that R.L. Mathewson took the time to develop not only her characters but their relationships as well. When I wasn't smiling or laughing I was near tears from the heartfelt moments.

This is a great read for anyone who enjoys vampires, romance or a good story. I look forward to her future work and would love to read a book about Chris.

    Amazing book

This story was so entertaining. I laughed, I cried, I really bonded with the characters. The dialogue was hilarious, and original. The bond between the characters was incredible. In our leading lady, Madison, we get a young girl who has had a hard life, and has her gaurds up, while still maintaining a good heart and sense of humor. In Ephraim, we get a sexy, dark, emotionally scared being, with a dirty sense of humor and a heart of gold. Mathewson did a wonderful job switching between sexual tension, to quick jabbing dialogue, to gut wrenching terror and action. Excellent book, cannot believe it was free. Definitely planning to read more from the author.

Really needs a good editor, but the story concept was not bad

Choppy writing along with numerous grammar and punctuation mistakes made for a less than pleasant read. The story was fairly good, but this author really needs a good editor. Still, with the low cost, it's not a complete waste of money. If the author moves to mainstream and gains a decent editor, I'm sure she'll do well. R.W.

    Loved how long was great

Where other books would have ended this one lasted an extra 400 pages. So where a great story would normally end u got to see so much more and there is a shoot off story to follow it. If u like vamp stories with romance this is a great read and very cheap. I counted about 10 spelling or other mistakes but so what...

    Enjoyable

Ok, first off I enjoyed the book overall. It has some very similiar thematic elements as Twilight, so I'm guessing it evolved from some fan fiction. That being said the characters and story were good in their own right. A few minor drawbacks...the is alot of lengthy descriptive backstory narrative that is plunked in in the middle of dialogs. The narrative is so lengthy in fact it can make the dialog difficult to follow. By the time you get back to the dialog, you may have forgotten what the heck the characters were talking about in the 1st place. In my opinion the book would have seriously benefited from some agressive editing of the narrative to make the story dialogs and action flow better. Also sometimes the format was strange in the ereader, which also contributed to the flow issues. All in all it is a solid book and the sex scenes are hot!

    Great story.....couldn't put it down!

Ephraim and Madison's story ws a great read. Madison had a rough life but then again, so did Ephraim. All 206 years if it. But now they have each other....forever. I can't wait to read the next book about Chris and his Sentinal mate. While these books have a sprinkling of grammatical errors, it is still a nice long read for only .99

Take your roleplay games somewhere else and quit screwing up book reviews. This is childish and a waste of time. Please.

    Loved it. Again

This is my fifth straight book by R.L. I admit at first I was unsure of how i would like it. Because im not one for historical romance or vamp besides twilight. But i started to grow attached just like i have with the rest of her characters. Ended up liking it very much. Great love scenes.
