Children's Literature - Kasey Giard
Tallulah the cat dreams of life on the stage as a Theatre Cat. Each day she attempts to sneak into the theatre and join in the activities happening both on- and off-stage. From concessions to set construction and practice to performance, Tallulah is determined to participate, but every time, she is shooed out of the theatre. When she is finally discouraged, poor Tally hides, prompting the town to realize how much they appreciate her dedication and loyalty. The theatre manager rethinks his decision to give her the boot and fastens a tie around her neck instead, christening her the Theatre Cat. The story, told in rhythmic rhymes, focuses on determination and passion, teaching that one must keep trying, even if discouraged or told no, in order to succeed at one's dream. The illustrations are bright collages of color, showing great expressions on faces both human and feline. This first children's book by Jennifer Brown earned the L.M. Montgomery award for Children's Literature. Recommended. Reviewer: Kasey Giard

This book has wonderful poetry and rhyme. It is witty and adorable and I love how it flows. My 3 year old loves repeating the tagline in this book and has learned words like "consternation" and "affronted". She wants to read it every night. I absolutely love this book :) It gave me a nostalgic feel and reminded me of my love for certain books when I was a child.
