"Action, intrigue and romance the way only Ronie Kendig can write it—this is an author who knows her stuff. With characters you can't help but love—and a canine you can't help but fall for—Talon is an intense ride punched with high-octane drama that will have you bolting through the pages in a single, sleepless night. Talon is Kendig at the top of her game. Whatever you do, do not miss this one.
-Tosca Lee, New York Times bestselling author of the Books of Mortals series
"Talon was a non-stop, heart-pounding adventure full of twists, turns, and romance. Every time I picked it up, I was transported to Talon and Aspen's world and felt every emotion that they experienced. It has a little bit of everything to capture the hearts of all readers!"
-Lisa Phillips, Founder/CEO of Retired Military Working Dog Assistance Organization
"Now I know why they label Ronie's novels 'Rapid Fire Fiction!' With inimitable style, this book hooks you from page one and machine-guns you to a satisfying finish. Bravo, Ronie!"

Exhilarating. Fast-paced. Action-packed. Romantic. These are just some of the words describe that this book in a nutshell. When you start it, you won’t want to put it down. I’ve been looking forward to this book since Trinity came out and it didn’t disappoint.
If you’ve read the first book, the whole team makes an appearance in this one and Talon is (clearly) the star of the show (If you noted in my previous review on Trinity, you will realize and understand that I do not comprehend fascinations with animals, but I still enjoy these books!). I will say, though, that there is a LOT that goes down in this book: family problems, different countries, shoot-em-up scenes, kidnapping, etc. Spiritually, you’ve got Dane finding his way back to God and Aspen learning how to trust Him. Great Book! Really anticipating the next one!
Redemption Draws Near - Debbie Mitchell
After reading TRINITY, the first book in the A Breed Apart series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Book Two, TALON: COMBAT TRACKING TEAM. Let me tell you I was not disappointed. I fell in love with this MWD, he is a true hero. TALON will take you where you could never go before without being a part of the military. As I read this book, I was a heroine, a hero, a villain….a dog. I was in the trenches, racing against time to save…….read the book to finish that sentence. Once again, I was reminded of what our men and women (and those wonderful MWDs) do every day to keep us safe and free. The characters in TALON are so well written, that they seemed real to me. I found myself praying for them throughout the story. This book has it all….action, romance, heartache, laughter, and my favorite when it comes to this series, those wonderful MILITARY WAR DOGS!
Marine Corps Nomads - Heather Lammers
Talon is an action packed drama filled with twists and turns, unexpected plots, and a little bit of romance that grabs your attention and keeps it to the final pages of the book. It’s yet another great book by Ronie Kendig. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Beowulf.
Fresh Fiction - Viki Ferrell
Kendig's characters are strong, smart and driven, and the inspirational touch lends warmth and strength to her characters, as well. The plot is captivating and intense.
If you're an animal lover, Talon will capture your heart and won't let go.
Put TALON: COMBAT TRACKING TEAM on your to-read list. You won't be disappointed.
More Than a Review - Donna Feyen
Ronie Kendig hit another one out of the park. Ronie has once again created a series that keeps you on the edge of your seat rooting for our heroes both human and canine throughout the entire ride.
Fiction Addiction - Elizabeth Olmedo
Kendig’s fans are in for a real treat with this second installment in the A Breed Apart Series. For those who have yet to pick up a book by this brilliant author, trust me, you won’t want to wait a moment longer. The pages in Talon are brimming with twists and one in particular is bound to thrill readers. There is no question, this novel has made my “Best of 2013” list.
Seattle Dog Show - Ranny Green
“Talon” is essentially a richly-detailed story of two distant and combustible families whose dynamic paths intermingle with strong characters who produce hate, distrust, love and commitment. In the process, Kendig skillfully connects the far-reaching dots while not undermining the combative tone and vigorous flow from cover-to-cover.
Breath Perfumed - Joleen Graumann
Read it in 2 days! Good gracious Kendig did good by this one!
My Favorite Pastime - Julie Graves
Talon is the second book in the A Breed Apart series. I found the story gripping and moving. The descriptions of combat were exciting and nail-biting. Reading about Talon’s loyalty to his partner was especially moving. Not only were the combat scenes tense, but the relationships between the characters were also tense.
NetGalley - Laura Jackson
I love Aspen and Dane. They were authentic characters developed through action-packed scene after scene. I loved Aspen's naïve belief in people and Dane's tormented past. Austin was a mystery to me, even towards the end of the book. I hope he shows up in another book (hints are there).
Talon may have been my favorite character. She was broken and unprepared to return to action, but her loyalty and protectiveness was a great tribute to the dogs serving around the world.
The action was fast from beginning to end. Kendig writes with military level precision, putting the reader right in the heart of the action and taking them for an amazing ride.
Fans of military thrillers will enjoy this book as much as I did. I can't wait to read book three!
NetGalley - Sarah Penner
I went into this book expecting it to be very good. I have loved everything by Ronie Kendig to date.Seems like 5/5 stars is too few stars! Can I say 6/5?
NetGalley - Susan Tuttle
As you may or may not know, I'm a huge fan of Ronie Kendig. Ronie owns her tag line "Rapid-Fire-Fiction" and this book did not disappoint. I loved the aspect of Aspen looking for her twin, somehow that seemed even closer than just a brother. And I loved not knowing the entire time if I could trust her brother or not. Also, the tension between Aspen and Dane--the hero of this book--was well paced, as was their stories.
Mocha with Linda - Linda Attaway
Talon, is a boots-to-the-pavement, no-holds-barred adventure that will fully engage your senses and leave you breathless. While plenty of adrenaline-laced, heart-stopping action with grenades and bullets flying will satisfy the most ardent fans of military fiction, lovers of intricate plots and masterful character portrayals will be equally captivated by the many layers of intrigue, suspense, and even romance...
This is her best novel yet, which is quite an accomplishment considering the awards she's received for her previous books. I predict this will be another award-winner; don't miss it!

Suspense, romance, action combine to make this a page-turner you won't be able to put down! The Christian theme is subtle and does not come across preachy and there are definitely not any "slow parts" in this book. This is an outstanding action packed thriller with a touch of romance. Non-stop action you won't want to miss!
Labor Not in Vain - Faith Oygard
Overall, a great book that I was able to just leap into, even though I hadn't read the previous book in the series, though now I really should! A terrific action and military suspense read!
My Book Addiction Reviews - April Ren
Ms. Kendig is a true Military romance writer who lends her expertise to creating an exciting plot, filled with action and adventure. Her characters are heroes to be sure, they are engaging and realistic. What not to enjoy about a fast paced story. While, “Talon” is a Christian title, please do not let this slow you down or deter you from reading this amazing title. You will not regret the time to read this story.
