All Keryn wants is a child. But her superiors on the space station see her work as below average, despite her efforts, and her requests go denied. This all changes one day she stumbles into the Weald, a bubble of overgrown, organic life that has taken over part of the space station. Keryn finds a girl, Verdant, and takes her in as her own. She soon learns that the Weald has birthed this girl for a purpose, and the close minded ways of the space station are about to change. Taming the Weald is an intelligently written science fiction story about reclaiming your past. With wonderful word building and unique concepts, this story transported me to another time and place. I enjoyed the characters of Keryn and Verdant, and the relationships of mother and daughter and humans and nature.
