Meet the Author

Donita K. Paul retired early from teaching school, but soon got bored! The result: a determination to start a new career. Now she is an award-winning novelist writing Christian Romance and Fantasy. She says, “I feel blessed to be doing what I like best.”

She mentors all ages, teaching teenagers and weekly adult writing workshops.

“God must have imprinted 'teacher' on me clear down to the bone. I taught in public school, then home schooled my children, and worked in private schools. Now my writing week isn’t very productive unless I include some time with kids.”

Her two grown children make her proud, and her two grandsons make her laugh.

Donita Paul has crafted a tale that takes off like a glorious hot air balloon and soars over the wind swept hills. Like the wind that goes where it wants without a master, so has Ida Meade gone through life making friends where she wants and learning what she wants without thought of the consequences. When her intended changes his mind and doesn't go out west and to run the mission they had both accepted, Ida goes alone. This decision is one that brings wild-wind consequences including her introduction to Native Americans more civilized than some of her old neighbors, a troll, and two ghost children. And if these things weren't enough of a dust storm to contend with she also has to fight off the doubt of Jeremiah Griggs, Indian agent. Jeremiah is used to the unexpected and to danger but not to having to work with independent, but engaged young ladies from the East. As she did in Two Tickets for the Christmas Ball, Donita weaves together characters and places that linger in the imagination long after the story is over. I sincerely hope she writes a sequel, as she has created so many delightful supporting characters that didn't get as much time on the page as I would have liked.

I chose this book for two reasons. One was I have read Donita K. Paul's, DragonSpell's books and loved them and she as an author. The second reason is my mother's name was Ida so that endeared me to the book as that is the main character's name too. This book was so heartwarming and I love how the character has a wonderful relationship with the Lord. Even though her circumstances change beyond her control, she never allows the enemy to bring her down. Instead she seeks out the Heavenly Father for guidance, companionship, and protection. Ida never sees an obstacle too big, instead she meets each diffculty with love. Taming The Wild Wind was just what I needed as it encouraged me! Thank you for this Nook book!
