About the Author

Kim Ellis began her writing career under her parents' coffee table with a red crayon. At age four she upgraded to the closet door. Now, as a retired teacher, she is still scribbling away, producing stories that have appeared in Cricket, High Five Magazine for Children, Stinkwaves, and Skipping Stones magazines. She won first prize for children's poetry in Children's Writer Newsletter (February 2014). Kim is a teacher consultant with the Hudson Valley Writing Project. She enjoys yoga, quilting, and hanging out with her granddaughters. Tangled in Magic is her first published book.

Alison Gagne Hansen is a self-taught artist and has been creating works of art inspired from her love and connection to nature. As a busy mother, she is always trying to squeeze in a good art sesh here and there and hopes to influence her children to learn how to connect with nature and the world around us through works of art.

This entire book is an immensely enjoyable read. Told from two main points of view, Tangled in Magic is a delightful pell-mell of styles and plots connected in a magical world.



The book has more twos than the animals on Noah’s ark. With two magical talking birds, two villains, two intertwined plot lines, and two human main characters—a sister and brother—the book is extremely action packed. One twin, Agatha, is in danger of being killed by a magical panther, poisoned, or assassinated on the orders of the serpent-like villain Santer; the other, Malcolm, is forced to be a servant or slave of the other villain, Zeddicus. Separated after their parents’ tragic deaths but finally reunited, the twins must defeat Santer, and reclaim the lands he has stolen.



Exciting and beautifully written and designed, this book is sure to entrap readers in the twin’s magical world.
