Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Kerry Dexter
"Very personal, very accessible statements, built from the ground up with a simple, elegant architecture," says James Taylor of the songs Carole King wrote for this multimillion selling album which charted for more than half a decade in the '70s. Taylor who played guitar on "Way Over Yonder," "I Feel the Earth Move," and several other cuts knows what he's talking about. Though you might think that tunes such as "A Natural Woman," "You've Got a Friend," and "Where You Lead" have been worn thin by time and uninspired covers by every lounge singer in the world, heard in the voice of the original songwriter, they still sound astonishingly fresh. The album was remastered ...

The album was remastered from the original recordings by the original producer, Lou Adler, and there are two bonus tracks: "Out in the Cold," a previously unreleased cut from the original sessions, and a live version of "Smackwater Jack."
All Music Guide - Jason Ankeny
Carole King brought the fledgling singer/songwriter phenomenon to the masses with Tapestry, one of the most successful albums in pop music history. A remarkably expressive and intimate record, it's a work of consummate craftsmanship. Always a superior pop composer, King reaches even greater heights as a performer; new songs like the hits "It's Too Late" and "I Feel the Earth Move" rank solidly with past glories, while songs like "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow," and "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" take on added resonance when delivered in her own warm, compelling voice. With its reliance on pianos and gentle drumming, Tapestry is a light and airy work on its surface, occasionally skirting the boundaries of jazz, but it's also an intensely emotional record, the songs confessional and direct; in its time it connected with listeners like few records before it, and it remains an illuminating experience decades later.

    timeless

I remember the first time I listened to Carol King, on an 8-track tape. Her songs are timeless. I was pleased to see that Tapestry is available here at Barnes and Noble, my favorite place to shop for books and music.

    Pristine song writer

Tapestry was given to me when I was 12 years old. It has been and remains to this day my favorite album. King goes to that place in your heart and stays forever.

    king is ''queen''!!

carole king is such a super songwriter, and every song on this masterpiece proves it. she never really got the credit she richly deserved as a singer, but her voice is so unique, that the classics she wrote can best be sung by only herself. this album is timeless.

    UPBEAT AND PURE KING

Carole King knows how to write them & sing them with a gutsy down to earth sound. In any age, time or millenium she is the best. I will never grow tired of this CD and I have been listening to it ever since it was first released in the early 70's. My children, they are all grown now, know every word of every song and delight in it as I do. This is superior listening. Buy it, you'll like it!!!!

    Whooa.....What a pleasant surprise!

This was my Christmas gift from my kids back in the '70's, I believe the year of my divorce. Then as a newly divorced and single mom, I could relate the variety of songs to various stages of my life for years already past and then years to come. Some songs made me sad and others made me bounce and sing with joy. I must have this in my life again so that my grandchildren can hear my favorite album and hear the story about how their parents bought it for me! Thank you for having it available.....

Music is great, "Remastered" audio, not so much

You can't fault the music on this classic album, but I was hard pressed to hear any sonic improvement for it being "remastered". It still sounded like it was recorded many decades ago, with a real lack of transparency in the upper octaves. Buy this if you don't have it in your music collection, but don't expect sonic improvements because of remastering.
