Meet the Author

Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol (1809-1852) was a Russian writer of Polish and Ukrainian descent. He is considered to be the father of modern Russian realism, often satirizing the political corruption of the Russian Empire under the Tsars, which lead to his exile.
