Doody's Review ServiceReviewer: Danna Lane Bell, ADN (Washington Regional Medical Center)
Description: This quick reference book for emergency department practitioners is filled with multiple resources that are easy to find and use.
Purpose: It is intended as a pocket-sized quick reference for use in the emergency department.
Audience: Emergency medicine practitioners are the intended audience, but interns and advanced practice nurses would find it a helpful resource as well.
Features: The book covers multiple symptomology, diagnostic testing, and interpretation of results. It also includes a review of anatomy, i.e., the location of nerves and their innervation areas. It is designed well, making it easy to find information. The index makes it easy to locate specific topics. The book even includes common terms in different languages.
Assessment: The pocket handbook I used in the past did not have nearly as much information as this one does on diagnostics, the physical examination, etc. This book does a good job of condensing the information.
