    Too pricey

I have this in an original paperback, and it was and is clearly a fantasy written for men of the 70's who were scared crapless by the feminist regime, who needed the world of gor to make them feel good about being a man again. On occasian I still play out the gorean thing with my husband because although as a story it's poor, but it does reach something in all of us. However an e-book which is fairly cheap to publish that costs the same as a paperback only proves to show that greed is behind bringing the gor books back. I'd recommend finding a used copy instead and do not expect it to be a great read. Not literature, but pure sexual fantasy if you like it.

    Overall a pretty good series

So far I have read the first 4 books in the series. It is pretty good from a fantasy novel perspective. However, I think I am understanding what a friend of mine once said about the books written by a female author that I like. He said that the dialogue/actions of the men in the books were unbelievable, in terms of a man would never do or say those things, a man's mind doesn't work like that. I am thinking this exact same thing in reverse, about the women in the Gor books. Overall the book is pretty good, but the dialogue of the women, in all the books, is pretty inane. I am just sitting there like, Are you serious?? And all the women are like "I love you!!" after being with the guy for 5 minutes. Not to mention the thing about "all women truly want to be slaves"... please. Lol. So if you can take it with a grain of salt and mostly overlook this serious flaw, then the books are a decent read.

Take a look at the cover...

Does this look like something a legit publisher would sell? Also take a look a the publisher name. This is obviously a copyright infringement. Please stop buying this book and report these books.

    Good but...

I've read 1-16 so rather then leave a review for each I'll leave a summary on the first of the series. They're rather short usually 200 pg. give or take each so you'll start and not be able to put then down until about three books in. If your anything like me after a while you'll take a break from reading the Gor books before picking up and going for more. It'll capture your interest and make you want to delve in further to find out what will happen next but after a while you will say "Alright, enough is he ever going to find "His Love" or will he return to being a Warrior etc." so yes at times it can drag. I still love to touch into them occasionally and still wish to read all 27 or is it 28 now but I'll have to get into that vibe again. Personally I recommend reading them in order it'll help keep the flow of the story rather then a chapter of it if you were jumping in a random order.

    A must for Sci-Fantasy Readers

I have not come across many books I Finish in one day. This is on of those books! A thrilling tale from start to finish it leaves the reader craving for further adventures from Tarl Cabot. Fortunately Pen Author John Norman does not disappoint. This is the first in a long saga of books that we are privileged to have re-printed over 40 years later. Not since I read 'Dragon wing' by M.Weis and T.Hickman has a series so gripped me. For anyone who enjoys series books I recommend this as a mesmerizing start to a wonderful series.

    First and finest.

The first book is the long running and controversial Gor series, Tarnsman of Gor introduces you to Earth's hidden twin, Gor or Counter Earth. A planet hidden on the opposite side of the sun it is home to many fantastical races and a fascinating Human civilization.

The Setting crafted by the author is beautiful, yet brutal in many respects, his characters equally so. Though the book is short its story feels far from it, encompassing two worlds tied together by ties of blood as well as the fate of of a man, a woman, and a nation.

On its own the book is well worth a read, though much of the later series leaves much to be desired.

My husband i where newly weds living in La Mesa California, while stationed there in the Navy, at the 32nd street Naval Base. We would take turns reading the Gor books, while the other cooked dinner that night, turned out my husband enjoyed my reading as i enjoyed his cooking. Its been over 30 years and we look back on that time, as one of the best times. Today we found that the author has continues with the series, we hope to start the series again and as we did before taking turns with the cooking and venture once again........can't wait.

I have the whole series of Gor, as well as two other series that are
not of Gor, plus, I have the book, "imaginative Sex" all by
John Norman. I am quite pleased that these books are being revived for
a new generation of readers. Granted! One can read them as a light
fantasy containing a swords and fighting adventure and/or proceed to
some really deep delving into questioning the relationships of
Men/Women, and even deeper into the scientific aspect as a whole. The
books abound with questions that raise the conscious level of the mind,
in not only postulating theories; but, providing some serious
speculation about our own life and worlds. Consider a planet hidden by
the Sun that can’t be viewed from our planet. Astounding! And how many
people caught the similarity between the Priest Kings and what people
refer to as the Grays. Size isn’t relative. How about the Kur race and
that beast that some call Sasquatch? What about some of the science
marvels such as the anti grav platforms detailed in the Priest Kings of
Gor? A device that is just now being researched in some secret labs.
There are so many questions that incite deep thought, that to read these
books and truly get the most good from them, one must re-read them many
times. And question everything. And truly learn.

    These are cult classics!

There is a whole society of people into D/s and B/D (Dominate/submissive and bondage and discipline)who follow these. And in response to the person who said the female dialog was inane - not really. If you are a sub/slave you obey your master. These books were the catalyst I needed to explore my own sexuality. Men and women are different, however much you may say otherwise. The woman's lib movement did more harm to women than good. We lost the respect of men, power in the home to raise our kids, and most women now have to work, even if they don't want to, because men aren't paid enough anymore to support a family by themselves.

    Classic Warrior Fantasy

The GOR series by John Norman starts with this book the first of over 25 volumes. If you like Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Bourroughs, or Karl Edward Wagner, this series is for you. Filled with noble warriors, humor, wenches and a sinister plot. I highly recommend these books to any fantasy buff. Ta Sadar Gor!
