From Barnes & Noble
On Sunday, Texas teenager Taylor Storch went skiing for the first time. On Monday, she was irrevocably dead. But that isn't the end of the story; in some ways, it's just the beginning. Remembering that their 13-year-old daughter was always a giver, Taylor's parents made certain that her vital organs would be donated to men, women, and children who needed them. Since the 2010 tragedy, Todd and Tara had worked hard to promote organ donation in imaginative way, of which this soulful book is only the latest.
Publishers Weekly
The Storch family’s dream vacation turns into a nightmare when 13-year-old Taylor Storch dies after hitting a tree while skiing. Her parents write about their feelings of loss and the difficulties of processing their grief differently. While Todd needs to be around people and focuses on establishing a foundation, Taylor’s Gift, to facilitate registration for organ donors, Tara withdraws into a suicidal depression that leaves her unable to function. Her lifeline is a rediscovery of her faith and an amazing support network of family and friends. Ultimately, Todd and Tara find great comfort in meeting the five recipients of Taylor’s donated organs. Their stories are told in third person by cowriter Schuchmann; the viewpoint switching can be disruptive. While the couple’s brave and honest first-person confessions about their grief might particularly benefit those who understand such horrible loss, tedious detail can bog down the message of hope that Taylor’s gift brought not only to her parents but also to the organ recipients, who receive a new lease on life. As co-founder of Taylor's Gift Foundation, Todd manages the day-to-day operations. In less than two years, Todd has spoken to nearly 10,000 people. Through the foundation's efforts, he has contributed to the certification of nearly 2,000,000 organ donors in Texas and over 12,000,000 nationally. Todd has more than twenty years of experience as a senior executive in radio and digital media sales, and extensive experience helping companies build their digital and interactive divisions.

Tara Storch is an award-winning sales and marketing professional, an entrepreneur, and a community leader, but most importantly she is a wife to Todd and a mom to Ryan and Peyton. I heard a quote the other day that said "you need to earn the right to hear my story...".   Well, the public is very fortunate to have earned the right to hear this story.  The Storch family takes us on a heart wrenching journey, but one that is filled with courage, love, hope, and a faith that is indescribable.  For all the moments of despair in this book, there is always something to "offset" it, whether it be a scripture, a random act of kindness, or even a sign from Taylor, there is something that  follows to guide the family through.  I read this story as a Mother, Wife, Friend and Neighbor, and I put myself in Tara's shoes - and it made me realize I need to hug my kids a little tighter, lean on my spouse a little more, and embrace my faith.  God Bless the Storch family, Taylor Paige Storch, and all of Taylor's "keepers"  thank you for showing us the real meaning of courage, hope, faith and love,

We lost our son at 33 yrs old. I happen to be in a store where the Book's were and seen "Taylor's Gift". I read a portion and decided I'd buy, what's the chances of me sitting down and reading it? As soon as I came home I was putting away my groceries and lay the book in the TV Room. That night I pick it up and never put it down. My husband and daughter and I knew eactly how you were feeling. Not want to get out of bed, as time went by everyone was going back to their lives, but we couldn't without our son. Our daughter was having such a hard time. Our son lived in the hospital for 22 months, almost 2 yrs. And we didn't have a choice to donate.
I would recommend your book to anyone who has lost a child, regardless their age, they are still everyday life. Our son was the BEST, we were the BLES ones to call Josh our son. May God Bless you and your family and Thank You for sharing your story with us.

Taylor's Gift is an amazing story about a beautiful girl and the unselfish response that her grieving family gave when asked if they would donate her organs.  Through the book, you learn how caring Taylor was for her family and friends, even though she was only 13 when she was killed.  There were times while reading the book that I could hardly see the words through my tears.  But this isn't just a tear jerker.  There were also times when I was amazed at how God was working through the tragedy to bring hope to so many people. How God kept His presence known in so many ways and let them know His purpose behind Taylor's death.

The Storches struggled with their grief. They got angry with God. Tara withdrew to her room for months while Todd had to stay full of activity.  But through it all they came together to create Taylor's Gift Foundation .  This is an organization working to inform people about the huge need for organ donation.  While a story like this has to touch everyone on some level, I love that -- as it says above -- it is a story of hope.  That even in the darkest of times, you can find strength in God.

    Loved it.

How do you turn the agony of losing a child into something posit

How do you turn the agony of losing a child into something positive?  The Storch Family has found a way to honor their precious daughter Taylor by telling their story in the pages of this book .  Their message of hope makes us realize that the things that are most important in life are often overlooked.  Everyone who has known or been touched by someone who has lost a child has asked themselves the same question:  how can they go on?  Todd and Tara take you through this unspeakable tragedy with honesty and grace.  You will be left with a peace at the end of the book that you did not have at the beginning while they relive Taylor's accident.  It is a profound story that tells of a family still in mourning and still missing and loving their their daughter every single minute of their lives.  My hope for you as a reader is that you remember Taylor Storch and keep her family's story and the stories of her organ recipients close to your heart.

No one knows what choices they would make when faced with tragedy. Taylor's Gift is an honest book about the gut-wrenching loss of a daughter, the deep valleys of suffering, and the hope that follows. The Storch family shares their private journey and how they came through it more connected and faithful with the help of family, friends, and strangers. Anyone that reads this will be inspired to find ways to "Outlive" themselves.

Bought this book and it let me see the other side of things . I too am from Texas. I'm double listed on two transplant list in Dallas. I need a liver, never been a drinker but I have end stage liver cirrirous. I don't know if I will outlive the list long enough to get a new liver. It gives you a whole new outlook on organ donation. Please donate.

This was a wonderful book in many ways. It was real - there was no sugar-coating the pain of losing a child. It was uplifting - to make the donor decision they did in the midst of their grief. And it brings to the forefront the need for everyone to be registered on the donor registry. Thank you Storch family for sharing all that you have, including Taylor.
