After buying this book, you'll never again spend hours searching for the perfect pattern, because you'll easily be able to create it yourself! I wish I had had this book last year when I spent hours searching for a vest pattern I was envisioning. (I never did find it.) Sharon Turner's book enables even rather inexperienced knitters to make any sweater, hat, scarf, mittens or bags they could possibly ever want. The directions are crystal clear with wonderful illustrations. She even shows you how to how to sew seams, make buttonholes, etc. There are also directions for every kind of stitch pattern. Bravo!!! Finally!!! Joan Parlin

This is one of those books that you would love to like. It has nice looking pictures and covers many of the topics beginning knitters struggle with. The problem is that many of the instructions are unclear and steps are omitted which is extremely frustrating. If I was relying on this book to learn to knit I would have given up knitting and taken up crochet.

This is a bit hard to read on the nook ... good for on the go reference but to really use the charts I needed to see them on a larger screen !

This book has really hit the mark with its illustrations. I strongly recommend it to te novice knitter. I also recommend it to the more advanced knitter because of the section on self design.

I bought this as an e book. There are no charts, but several tables. If you use your text sizer on your reader you are able to see them all adequately. This book is perfect for the knitter, who buys a pattern and yarn separately or who wants to use their own design. This is not a beginner's book. It does a lot of the math for different sizes of people and yarn. It is for those brave enough to go their own way. The grafting and seaming photos are too small to see closely. Go on you tube if you want a how to on basics. Awesome Book!

This books seems good for beginning knitters. I was looking for something that went more in depth into how to begin designing a shawl/sweater/hat, explanations on increasing/decreasing to achieve specific shaping effects and how to modify the fit of something. This book gives you very basic "master patterns" that you then insert a stitch pattern into from the stitch glossary in the back of the book. Good for beginners, not what I was hoping for.
