Editorial Reviews

Brian Dittman
Dr. Dexter's book offers a unique insight into the process for a teacher's interview. For any teacher looking to improve their approach into an interview, here is a book that goes straight to the areas that one needs in order to be successful. From cover to cover it provides an in-depth analysis of a 9 Step Process that we as teachers must know when heading into an interview. I don't know of any other book that offers so much depth;it is a must have that will get you to the front of the pack.

Wow! Where was this book when I was bouncing from interview to interview trying to find my first teaching position 16 years ago? This book is virtually a checklist of what to do, and NOT do, to get a job. I love how succinct and clear it is. No beating around the bush. Cards are on the table. I can absolutely see myself using this book again and again in several capacities.

This is a great book for preparing for an educational interview. This book is also a quick read and set up in an organized matter. First Dr. Dexter gives you tips for getting prepared and what to expect. Then he moves to major questions one might be asked during an interview and how to interpret and answer each one.  Dr. Dexter even covers group interviewing techniques. Every person in education from the teacher interviewing for their first position to the administrator leading the interview committee, this book is a must read resource.

Ron Dexter provides clear insight into the teacher and administrator interview process. For any person looking to improve their knowledge of the interview process this is the only book they need to read. He offers a framework of 46 basic questions that are most often used in educational interviews and he provides knowledgeable tips on how to most effectively answer those questions. In addition, Dr. Dexter also provides a 'cheat sheet' of educational acronyms and what they mean.

This book is a wonderful resource for conducting mock interviews, interview preparation, and a basic tool for organizing your thoughts, ideas, and philosophy on critical topics in education.

This is a great resource for the new teacher looking to land that first teaching position, for the fledgling administrator making the transition from the classroom and for the seasoned administrator in charge of hiring. This book will meet the needs of all three groups.

An indispensable, insightful guide to success in the interview and beyond.

Before I read this book, I thought I had the interview process figured out. I would pepper my responses with the current buzzwords, and flaunt my achievements and credentials. This book changed my approach by taking me into the mind of the people sitting across from me at the interview. After reading it, I learned the real questions behind the questions, as well as discovering what every administrator wants in his or her building. This book really gave me the confidence to express my passion for teaching in a way that connects with what administrators are seeking.
