    In Remembrance of Neil Postman

    I'm a 45 year old Clinical Psychologist and academic in Perth, Western Australia. I first 'met' Dr. Postman through an undergraduate psychology class at the University of Western Australia in 1977. I was 'introduced' to him by an equally charismatic and to me influential academic at UWA at the time - Robn Winkler. Winkler recommended we read Teaching as a Subversive Activity, and it remains one of the more important books that I read at university. What can I say, Postman and Weingartners book was highly influential and I have carried something of Neil Postman since then. In my teaching, I often remember their challenges about teaching well, and I try to imagine how Neil Postman might have conducted himself. I very much regret that I never got to listen to him in person. Simply put, Neil Postman played a small part in helping me to establish the values that I have as a person. My condolences to the Postman family. Vale Neil Postman
