Teaching Man and Other Tales is Nell Duvall's collection of four short stories.
The first story is the "Teaching Man". In a few, deft words Duvall manages to create a sympathetic setting for Sarry. When the Teaching Man comes along, we're already rooting for him to teach her a few good lessons. Duvall manages to weave in mystery and romance. And leaves one wanting for more.
The second story in the collection, "The Guardian", Duvall does a great job of building up tension around spooky cats and strange women.
In Duvall's third offering, "Tomorrow Is Soon Enough", my personal favorite, the main character is a broom. I loved this story for its imaginative combination of procrastination, and the sinister.
The final, story in this collection "Soul Mates", has an unsettling conclusion.
The collection is definitely worth a read.
