Any teen interested in a career in fashion should read this handbook. It is filled with advice from top designers, photographers, models, stylists, makeup artists, writers, and their interns and assistants. They share how they got started and give tips to those interested in a fashion career. This book looks and reads like a magazine on glossy pages filled with photographs and sidebars, but the interviews give pertinent information on every aspect of work in fashion. In addition to the articles by professionals, each section—Designers, Editors, Stylists, Beauty, and Photo—has a sidebar with advice from interns and assistants, a snapshot of a tool kit for that job, and tips on how to break into the industry. The chapter on models has an interview with a model scout as well as recommendations from experienced models. The advice here is realistic, reminding the reader that one must start small and work one's way to the top. The appendix lists design schools from all over the world with a description of their programs, tuition, enrollment, and environment. It is a great reference for students trying to determine their future. They can explore the options in this industry through the behind-the-scenes information, including some jobs of which teens may not be aware. Gr 7 Up—This book will have a lot of teen appeal with its trendy fashions created by veteran designers and newcomers alike. Legendary names such as Karl Lagerfeld are intermixed with the latest fashion moguls to give readers advice about how to plan for a career in the industry. Future-minded readers will learn about design, modeling, styling, and photography through interviews, pictures, and lively layouts of tips and photos. "Essential Items of the Pros" are included at the end of each section. The exceptional photos and spreads of questions and answers are attractive and fun to look at, but at times the bold colors and busyness overwhelm the solid text. Regardless, young people considering a career in the business will find plenty of encouragement and useful tips. The fashions and ideas are up-to-date, including Michelle Obama's nontraditional sleeveless dresses described as "bringing the First Lady into the modern era, in which glamour is defined by Hollywood and the red carpet rather than protocol and tradition."     The worst book EVER!

    This book is horrible. All of the pages are of shopping items. Hello? If I wanted to shop for clothes, I would have bought a magazine. Also, it says there are tips for dressing... That is a lie. Sure there are a couple of tips. But that is only four pages in the total book. Don't waste money on this book

    An Excellent Book If You are Curious About The Fashion Industry

    This book gives you a detailed and honest look at what it is like to be in the fashion industry. In the book, many well-known and highly regarded editors, photographers, designers, etc are interviewed. I highly recommend this to any fashion enthusiasts or just teenagers who are curious to know how the fashion industry truly works.

    I Absolutely Loved It!!

    Before I bought this book, I was expecting something that merely had career advice about getting into the fashion world (which was its intended main purpose). But, to my suprise, I got so much more! The interviews with actual people in the industry, beautiful graphics, and insider tips on everything fashion was really helpful and interesting. I could hear the exact views of people about their job, and they all really told readers how it is. Before, I was not a huge fashion person, but all the devotedness and work that goes into the business really inspired me, and made me totally interested in it all. I would definetly recommend this to anybody looking for a great read and insiders guide, who love fashion, and are hoping to expand that love into something greater.

    Teens love it

    my daughter and her friends love this book. There are so many ideas for them. From beauty to fashion. Lots of How tos. Bought a second book for my daughter's friend she loved it so much.

    Very informative and a delightful read!

    This is the perfect book for anyone learning how to make it in the fashion and/or beauty industry. It contains tips for snagging an internship and interviews with successful designers, beauticians, and photographers. The Teen Vogue Handbook is a must read for anyone looking to breakout in the industry.
