Overview

Blessed with a cheerleader's body, a girl-next-door face, and a drama-club queen's lust for the spotlight, Katy Perry presents herself as a curvy Teenage Dream, the ideal she puts forth on her 2010 sophomore set. Perry doesn't have great ambitions in mind: all she wants is the spotlight, and she'll follow the path of others to get there, raising eyebrows à la Alanis, strutting like Gwen Stefani, and relying on Britney's hitmaker Max Martin for her hooks. There's no question Perry knows all the rules in pop and follows them to the letter: she never breaks away from the expected lite club beats that transition from day to night without a hitch, or the chilly, stainless steel ballads designed to lose none of their luster on repeat plays. Perry acknowledges some shifting trends -- she salutes Ke$ha on "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)," replicates Ryan Tedder's glassy robotic alienation on "E.T.," and tellingly avoids ripping off Lady Gaga -- but these are merely accents to her One of the Boys palette. Perry is at her best when she's delivering sleek singles like "Teenage Dream" and "Hummingbird Heartbeat" with efficiency. [The Complete Confection, a 2012 reissue of Teenage Dream, featured three new songs and several remakes, including a version of "E.T" with Kanye West, a version of "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" with Missy Elliott, and an acoustic version of "The One That Got Away," plus a seven-minute Tommy Sunshine megamix of her six chart-topping singles.]

Teenage Dream is a ridiculously good album for an artist that I think a lot of people often overlook. Katy really delivers with this Teenage Dream! The album is packed with songs that could be her next big hit! There are fun dance songs, but also some songs that cover more serious matters. I think Katy has always been good at being able to have fun, but be serious when she needs to be. This album shows how serious she is about her career! My favorite tracks are The One That Got Away, Firework, Teenage Dream, and Pearl. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!! - WT

Teenage Dream is a delightful pop album that you won't want to miss picking up. Its cleverly crafted lyrics and memorable melodies will be stuck in your head all day! Some of its gems include Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) which will soon become a party favorite, Who Am I Living For, a true song about finding yourself, and The One That Got Away, a heartfelt tune about wanting someone you can't have. The hard copy of the album contains a sweet cotton candy scented booklet and beautiful pictures of Katy! Fans of One of the Boys won't be disappointed. You definitely won't regret purchasing this album. -VB

Katy Perry's new album "Teenage Dream" most certainly beat the sophomore slump. She has upbeat sexy addicting tunes and she also has ballads that can make your heart melt. If you haven't bought the cd get it now. JC

Bought as a gift for my nieces. Glad they had the non-explicit version. Cover is highly provocative though.

I highly recommend this album! This is a much, much better CD than her first album. Katy really shows her versatility in this, going from fun pop tunes like "California Gurls" and "Peacock" to serious-subject songs like "Circle the Drain" and "Who Am I Living For?" to the intensely dramatic, alien "E.T." and the sweet "Not Like the Movies." Don't forget to check out the 13th and 14th tracks which are remixes of "California Gurls" and "Teenage Dream", respectively, the latter being an especially great remix! Katy shows her playful, humorous and intellectual sides in the lyrics while co-writing every single song. Both the lyrics and music have highly improved in this album compared to her first album, "One of the Boys." Most definitely one of the best pop albums of 2010!

Katy perrys second album I would say is the best album to get for the year of pop/rock. Her album is amazing and she is very talented. I like the song teenage dream, the song takes her back to when she was a teenager, I like the song last friday night t.g.i.f, califonia girls is a fun song! I heard that song on the radio for the first time, I really liked that song, Firework might get overplayed on the internet but it is a really good song with a good meaning. Peacock is a funny song to dance to, circle the drain is fun if you want to punk out, the one that got away is a good song, E.T. that is a really cool song, I liked all of the songs, put it that way. I hope Katy creates a third album because this one was awsome, she is getting better every year, WAY TO GO KATY PERRY! :-)
