Everything You Need to Know to Launch a Low-Cost Investment Plan—and Get Started Now on Earning Your First Million

Tim Olsen bought his first shares of stock when he was 8 years old. Now, at 13, Olsen is a Wall Street veteran. In The Teenage Investor he explains how you and other teenagers can follow his lead—and start building stock market wealth in your spare time.

Olsen talks about:

  • The basics of investing—what stocks and bonds are, where to find them, how to buy them
  • How to use the power of your youth to double or more the long-term value of your portfolio
  • Index funds—and how millions of investors have used them to become millionaires
  • The magic of dollar cost averaging—and how you can get more for less
  • How stockbrokers don't get paid unless you trade—and why you don't need them!
  • How to use the Web to become smarter about money than your parents or their stockbroker

Teenagers today make more money than ever before. They also, of course, spend more money than ever before. Instead of blowing every last cent you earn, let Tim Olsen show you how to start having some real fun with your money—by starting a low-cost investment account that could be worth $25,000, $30,000, or more by the time you graduate high school!

    Beginners welcome

This is an awesome book for learning about personal finance & the market overall. I came into this topic with absolutely no prior background, now I am educated enough to read the Wall street journal and actually comprehend what they are speaking about.

    Outstanding!

I currently attend High School with Tim Olsen, and so I picked up this book just to see what someone my own age could have possibly written about investing. I was amazed at the information this book provided, especially from such a young person. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to begin investing, but isn't quite sure where to start.

You got to get this book!

This kid is 100% correct, right on the money and to my astonishments, he clerified the facets of Wall Street's Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdad. Not even a financial adviser can give a brif description like Olson did. This book is way worth your money and knowledge. You got to get this book. He disscused Liquid banks to Different types stocks and funds. Not only that this book is design for a teenager, but also for individuals that are way beyond his years. A commplement from a 30 year old.

    Teenage Investor

I can't begin to imagine how this young man nurtured his investing philosophy!! What a joy and inspiration... Timothy Olsen put into words what I have been trying to teach my children about finance and investing. I have gotten each of them a copy and told them to read, read, read and then invest, invest, invest. Timothy is a wealth of information, carefully explaining important facets of the investing world. What knowledge he has and has been able to impart to the reader. I am so happy to see a book written about the careful and slow approach to making money for yourself. No 'off to the races' for this fellow! Thank you Timothy for sharing your knowledge. Can't wait for the next book!!

    Teenage Investor

This book, by Timothy Olsen a 14 year old is simply amazing. Do not be fooled by the title, the book is for everyone. Not only does he exhibit the knowledge of many analysts and advisors who work on the Street, but his advice practical and makes a lot of sense, recommending index funds, asset allocation and the slow-but-steady ways to wealth. He has done many people a great service by writing this book. I have recommended this gem of a book to everyone I know and they are all benefiting from the advice, as they have told me. Michael LeBoeuf, Ph.D., author of 'The Millionaire in You' says 'Get a copy of The Teenage Investor for yourself, a copy for your children and anyone you care about. You will all be richer for it.' Not only do I agree, but I am becoming richer because of this book. I still can't believe a 14 year old wrote it, if he is an example of what Wall Street will be coming to in a few years, I would have my money managed by him.
