Children's LiteratureAs part of "The Gallup Youth Survey: Major Issues and Trends" series, this title focuses on issues teens deal with both inside and outside of the classroom. Covering topics including the national epidemic of cheating, the temptation to cheat, cyber cheating, dirty play in sports, music piracy, and ethics, this title gives an overview of a variety of challenges faced by today's teens. Easy-to-read graphs and color photographs are included as well as a glossary for words that are italicized in the text. Current examples are used, such as Danny Almonte—the Little League pitcher who was above the age limit during the Little League World Series—and gold-medal U. S. cyclist Tyler Hamilton—who was indicated in "blood doping" during the 2004 Olympics—which makes the text relevant. The language used is appropriate for teens and makes an easy read while providing factual information. The index is useful and allows the title to be used as a reference source. 2005, Mason Crest Publishers, Ages 14 to 18.
