Letter and Letter Bee

Gauche Suede is on his last delivery before a big promotion. In the outskirts of Yodaka, the darkest area of Amberground, Gauche is surprised to find that the package is a young boy named Lag Seeing. Lag had been traumatized by his mother's abduction and is due to be delivered to his aunt. In this remote area rife with Gaichuu, Lag and Gauche face a dangerous journey that inspires Lag to become a Letter Bee.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Gauche is a young mailman, a “letter bee”; accompanied by his dingo Roda, he make deliveries through a land of darkness with little travel between outposts. His first package is, unexpectedly, a young orphan boy who must be taken on a 10-day journey across wasteland inhabited by metallic insects. Together, they learn more about each other's motivation: Gauche works far from his sick sister to make money to heal her, while the boy, Lag, is trying to find out what happened to his mother. Gauche takes his missions seriously, knowing that his “letters” (whatever their form) are connections between people. They carry “heart,” the key motivator of the series. In the second story, five years later, Lag is following in Gauche's footsteps with a delivery that echoes his past, a girl with mysterious abilities. This adventure includes both exciting action and touching emotion. The simple premise is easy to grasp, but has potential for almost any kind of story as the series continues. The art has a detailed sense of world-building with distinctive character appearances. (Sept.)

The art is beautiful and the story line is amazing. Right from the start it sucks you in and makes you eager to read more. I highly reccomend this!

Not overtly complex like some manga

Add a touch of steam, stir in a little bit of Hunger Games and chill, literally. While I didn't find much in Tegami Bachi new in concept, it was refreshing to find a storyline that wasn't bogged down with 5 different subplots. No need to make a notecard to track characters and relationships. Visually, the images are very subdued compared to something like Bleach, drawn with thinner lines. It creates a very airy quality to the art. Unless something changes within the plot to really make me disgruntled, I plan to follow this story to the end.

    more from this reviewer

    Awesome book!

This manga was awesome and is one of my favorites. I highly recommend it to anybody who likes manga or fantasy stories.

This book only has two chapters, which may seem short but these chapters are very large.
