Meet the Author

Kat Duncan is a creation extremist who is doing her best to identify human creativity and free it from captivity, one student at a time. As a young child, Kat once tried to confess the telling of her stories to her parish priest because she thought they fit the definition the nuns gave for telling a lie. With her lies fully sanctioned and blessed by church authorities, Kat writes stories to entertain and enlighten. She is a Fulbright Scholar who spent a year in West Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Kat has a master's degree in education and over a dozen years of experience teaching students from elementary through college and beyond. Her stories span a range from realistic historicals to quirky suspense. Visit her at: katduncan.net

    Excellent advice for writers...

Lighthearted, humorous explanation of useful writing techniques. The examples are geared to romance writers, but the techniques are clearly explained and could be used in any fiction genre.

    Very much worth your time

For novice writers, this little book can save you a lot of time. The updated 2nd Edition puts a lot of "in the trenches" tips at your fingertips. Kat explains the techniques in a very readable and understandable format. Her examples are clear and illustrate each point she is making without going too far above the heads of beginning writers. An excellent resource for beginners or those looking for a few fresh ideas.

    Help...

Is this worth getting? I have many ideas on what I could write a story about.

The thing about writing advice is...

The thing is, I want to know that if I'm taking writing advice from someone, that they're a good writer, an above-average writer, and nothing in this e-book convinced me that Kat Duncan is such a writer. I think she would have been better off pulling examples from truly great, stellar writers in quotes from their work, rather than providing lackluster original examples that were not as instructive as hoped.
