Stemming from a conference sponsored by the psychology and behavioral and social sciences departments at Southern Illinois U., ten contributions discuss the effects of genetics, the environment, and other issues on temperament and personality development in three separate stages of life. Topics include the linkage of early temperament to later personality, the influence of nutritional influences, genetic mediation between normal personality and psychopathological characteristics, and the role of social factors.
