I am not sure if any of these songs are all time Dylan classics, but this album stands out in today’s vapid music scene. The theme of Tempest seems to be 70 year old Bob confronting his and our mortality. The songs come out of blues and folk with a seasoning of Creedence Clearwater style rock and roll. The music is completely without studio slickness. Although the lyrics are dark, there are still flashes of Dylan’s humor and wordplay. I don’t feel this is a 5 star CD, but I’ll give it between 4 and 4.5.

As good as anything he's done in the past 20 years. Does he ever get old?

Featuring some of his darkest, most reflective work to date and arriving more than fifty years after his self-titled debut, Tempest is the 35th studio album from the legendary Bob Dylan. Including the gospel-influenced "Pay in Blood" and the 14-minute title track which tells the story of the sinking of the Titanic, Tempest finds Dylan tackling the subject of mortality more than ever, while his sharp sense of humor is still scattered throughout.
