Overview

London society knows the Byrons are "mad, bad, and dangerous" and every bit as fascinating as their poetic non-relation. Join the fun as New York Times bestselling author Tracy Anne Warren presents the first tale of this tempestuous family—famous for scandal and legendary at love . . .

Orphaned beauty Meg Amberley never planned to pose as Lord Cade Byron's fiancée. Caught in a snowstorm, she takes refuge at his estate. Stranded together, Meg soon finds herself falling under Cade's spell. When the roads clear, she intends to leave, but fate intervenes.

Haunted by his past, Cade Byron has buried himself in the country. Then Meg—with her lush curves—invades his house and his life. With her reputation compromised, he proposes a pretend engagement and a London season where she can find a husband.

But as their charade deepens, Cade can't let her go . . . vowing to tempt her with a kiss that just may lead to forever.

Regency romantic suspense fans will relish this character driven tale

In 1809, Lord Cade Byron hides from his family and society due to a leg injury suffered when the French tortured him on the Peninsular. He wants no company even driving away his older brother Edward. His only solace is alcohol although at times the pain is so severe he uses laudanum.

Meg Amberley accompanied by her servant arrives at Cade¿s isolated home during a blizzard. She asks for shelter for her and her ¿cousin¿. Cade tells her to get lost, but she insists the roads are impassable. He acquiesces allowing her to stay one night. Cade feels guilty because he desires the visitor while it is only one year since his beloved fiancée and her family were tortured and killed by the French in an effort to make him tell them military secrets. With her parents dead, she is on her way to stay with an aunt whom she never met.

Several days later she is still at his home though he hides from her until she invites him to dinner; he agrees. Afterward she challenges him to a game of chess. If she wins he must socialize with her; if he wins she will no longer nag him. Meg checkmates him. Cade mentions his leg was hurt when he was caught spying in Portugal; Meg mentions her late parents. The next few days they play cards and chess. They walk outside together; when Cade kisses Meg, he feels guilty and flees. As they fall in love, his guilt mounts.

The relationship between the lead couple is terrific as he rejects his attraction for her having watched one beloved raped and tortured while she slowly brings him out of his despondency and self recrimination. Cade¿s family is a strong support cast who want to do the best for him, but are frustrated and clueless as to how to help him; while the villain is diabolically clever. Though the final confrontation seems weak Regency romantic suspense fans will relish this character driven tale.

The Byrons reminds me of the Bridgertons!

What a lovely book. Great storyline, writing and characters. This is my first novel by Warren and I'll definitely read more of her novels. Highly recommended!

    Tempted By His Kiss

Meg Amberley is forced to take refuge in Lord Cade Byron's estate, when a vicious snowstorm comes up on Meg and her maid, as they are going to Scotland. All Cade wants is to be left alone in his misery. Cade has returned home from war a broken man. With Meg egging him on Cade slowly becomes less of a recluse. After two weeks of being cooped up in the house with Meg Amberley, Now Megs reputation has been called into question and Cade decides to take Meg to London as his fiance, in hopes that she will find a man to marry and dump him.

I really enjoyed this book. I believe it's better than Ms. Warren's Mistress trilogy. Cade was a very sympathetic character and I loved Meg. In fact I loved all the Byron siblings and am glad they are getting their own books.

    Another Great One!

She is a new author for me to read and I loved her last series. This book was great and easy to fall into. Cannot wait for next one in series to come out.

    A great romantic read!

I enjoyed the story very much, the plot was refreshing. Cade's family is endearing and will provide for more great stories to come. It would have been a five star book, but the "love angst" of Cade and Meg went on for a little too long to become a favorite.
