As daemons ravage the human realm and his loyalty to the Guardians is put to the ultimate test, Demetrius realizes that Isadora is stronger than anyone thought.

Atalanta arranges the abduction of Argoela Princess Isadora. After using a fertility spell on her prisoner, the evil Atalanta sends Isadora to Pandora Island. She next manipulates her son Demetrius the Eternal Guardian to go to Pandora Island expecting to rescue his beloved; but his mom has different "matchmaking" ideas for her son. She expects the pair to produce her grandchild who will have blood ties to goddesses for her use.
Isadora and Demetrius are attracted to each other as they are soul mates due to a Hera curse. He tries to avoid her and conceal his passion for her behind a face of scorn; however, she refuses to accept his dark brooding nature and goes after his love.
Once the players are set, this Eternal Guardian romantic fantasy (see Marked and Entwined) is a fast-paced twisting Elisabeth Naughton original Greek mythos. The lead protagonists struggle with outside interference and worse love as each wonders if their feelings are real or Goddess driven. With the mother from Hades adding evil to the mix, series fans will enjoy this exciting entry.

Demetrius always looked for a strong, confident female to warm his bed, everything his soul mate was not. He was dark to his soul mate's light and did not want to corrupt her so instead he stayed as far away as he could while still protecting her. That was until he found himself trapped with her with no escape. Demetrius knows it means the end of all of his hard work, and everything he held sacred.
The personal growth Isadora displayed within this story was impressive. It was done in little changes so I did not notice until I reached the end of the story and realized that the princess may look the same, but she was a completely different woman. It made me appreciate the character, and the author at the same time. All of Isadora's growth helped in the author's ultimate goal. You can tell she really thought out the direction she not only wanted to story to go in, but also the series and she used every paragraph within this story to reach that goal.
The relationship development was just as significant as the personal development of the main characters. I saw the dynamic of their relationship change, and each individual characters growth into who they were meant to be. Even some relationships with minor characters grew and developed within this story. In the end I had no doubt that everyone would live together and meet any future obstacles together as a unit.
While reading this story I sometimes forgot that this was part of a series, because the story stood on its own so well. This is something I appreciated since I had not read the previous stories. The story also drummed up enough interest in the other characters that it made me want to read the stories I had missed, and want to continue to read the future stories in the Eternal Guardian series.
I absolutely adore Greek mythology and this story gave me plenty of what I wanted. It was so jam packed with mythology it reignited my love for the heritage. Others have compared this series to Sherrilynn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series and I would have to agree. Therefore, if you enjoy Sherrilyn Kenyon or Greek mythology I urge you to pick up the Eternal Guardian series you will not be disappointed.

I must say upfront that I am not much into Greek mythology. The fact that this book also had romance did not appeal to me either. But the book had such great reviews that I decided to give it a try. Wow, what a terrific read! I could not put it down. It surprised me how well written it was. The description of this mix of earthy and mythological worlds was exquisite, to the point that I found myself recreating the subreal world of Lord of the Rings. The love story between the two main characters was very believable and never cheesy. I liked it so much that I bought and read the next book in the series (Enraptured), which I enjoyed equally.

Her writing style is easy to read and the story, while sometimes cheesy is a good escape from reality. If you enjoy Greek mythology this book will catch your interest. I liked it enough to buy the other two books in the series and enjoyed those as well.

Tempted is the third book in Elisabeth Naughton's Eternal Guardian series which which follows seven eternal guardian warriors descended from the greatest heroes of Ancient Greece. They were cursed by the goddess Hera to a soulmate. This novel was Isadora and Demetrius's story.
I did read the first book in the series, Marked, when it came out over a year ago but I didn't get a chance to re-read it or read the second book in the series before starting Tempted. As a result I was confused in the beginning of this book, not necessarily on who is who but of the over-arching storyline involving the prophecy, why Isadora and her half-sisters were important, Isadora's connection to Hades and Atalanta, among other things. After the first five or so chapters, I caught on somewhat. When the story became more about Isadora and Demetrius, I was able to enjoy the story more.
I enjoyed the all action most of all in this book. Ms. Naughton can write really great action scenes that I can picture in my head. Besides the fighting and battle scenes, I also really liked the characters of Isadora and Demetrius--both were secondary characters in the previous books in the series and when I read Marked, I thought Isadora's hero was going to be someone else (**ahemNickahem**). But I'm a glad Isa and D ended up being paired together because I think they needed each other. Demetrius was a tortured hero. He had dark secrets and he didn't really feel he belonged with the Argonauts (aka the eternal guardians warriors). Isadora was seen by others as a fragile princess and weak and she believed herself to be. Demetrius had always known she was his soulmate but he knew he was all wrong for her and always pushed her away. It wasn't love at first sight for Isadora. She didn't like Demetrius in the beginning because he was a jerk to her but when they got stuck on an island together she realized that there's more to Demetrius than meets the eye. Watching these two come together and Isadora become a stronger, more assertive character was great. I didn't think I was going to like Demetrius in the beginning but I did--both he and Isadora were likable characters and their romance satisfying.
Tempted has action, a steamy romance, great characters and wonderful world building. If you're tired of vampires and werewolves in your paranormal romances, then you should definitely pick up the Eternal Guardian series. However, I recommend you start with Marked (book one) or Entwined (book two) before picking up Tempted that way you'll be familiar with the characters and the series plot. Overall, Tempted was a fun read and a great addition to the series. I'm eager to read the next book in the series, Enraptured (Orpheus's story).

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. This book is where the Princess finally gets her man...and well, it was a long road for her. A little frustrating if you're the type to yell at characters for being thick-skulled and stubborn but an excellent read regardless! (I always yell at the characters...it is kind of like telling the extra in the horror films not to open THAT door...)
I was really happy that the Princess' story was earlier in the series than later. It really wouldn't have gone over well if we had to go through each argonaut to get to her HEA and the way they complement each other really is perfectly done.

You have to read this book with a clear head. It has much detail that will have you flipping back to read what you possibly skipped over or forgotten. I enjoyed it though.

4.5 stars actually
Demetrius is front and center as our tortured & tormented, dark & dangerous hero du jour. Try as you might you will not find his equal. Once again Princess Isadora is up to her neck in trouble and the Guardians have to save her. More to the point Demetrius is there to save her. After a fashion as a couple they work – and work well. The story moved quickly but there were times I felt it was longer than it needed to be – after a couple of surprise twists were tossed in, I recanted that thought.
We find why Demetrius’ is so distant and why he’s looked at Isadora as his personal plague. (Great reveal) Gone is poor wimpy princess Isadora, twice refused at the altar and still in search of a mate! In her place stands Isadora 2.0-a woman to be reckoned with, more than willing and ready to fight for what she wants and believes. Isadora’s change was excellently done and very true to her character. Beyond our star couple much progressed with the groundwork for the next installment and changes were definitely coming fast and furious for Orpheus as well. He won’t be a second tier character in this series much longer. I’m anxious for that delicious reveal.
Again I wonder what took me so long to get on board with this brotherhood style series that has its roots firmly set in the world of Greek Mythology as the Eternal Guardians, direct descendants of those legends. This little known gem of a series deserves a wider audience. Although each of the books read as if they are stand-alones they should be read in order to get the picture of each actions impact.

Loved it!! A great addition and a must read right along with the others in the series. Elisabeth Naughton hit about every emotion you have in you and turned Demetrius from a not so likeable male to one you wish you had beside you.

The book could have some merit if it didnt read so badly. The first few chapters are incredibly jumpy in an attempt to be 'mysterious.' Very predictable plot.
