Overview

Tempting Tristan is a stand-alone M/M romance featuring two sexy, lovable alpha heroes.

In Tempting Tristan...
Fresh off the heels of yet another bad relationship, Tristan Brewer is taking a break from men to try to figure out where he keeps going wrong. He knows his biggest fault--he leads with his heart, not his head--and that's never going to change. But after several introspective weeks, he's beginning to get a handle on things. That is, until badass heartthrob Alex Wells walks into his bar...

Alex has spent eight years in the army, months in a hospital bed, and far too long hiding his sexual identity. He's guilt-ridden, damaged, pissed off, and up for a Silver Star for the incident that nearly cost him his life--and kept him from his grandmother's funeral. But all he wants to do is live the life he's always dreamed of and forget his stint with the institution that allows but doesn't necessarily accept.

The chemistry between Tristan and Alex ignites from the moment they meet, and the more time they spend together, the hotter the flames burn. But the closer they become, the more Alex's walls go up, and when the two walk onto a military base, Tristan finds out Alex's physical scars aren't the ones that run the deepest..

4 star Review of Tempting Tristan: Tristan Brewer (Harborside Nights #3) This is the first book I have read from this series and I loved it. This is a M/M story and the story of Tristan Brewer and Alex Wells. After a traumatic break up Tristan decides he needs to take a break from men. His biggest problem is he leads with his heart, not his head and he is finally beginning to stabilise his feelings, that is until Alex walks into the bar he works in. What’s a man to do? The attraction between these two is instant. Alex is ex-military and was badly injured so much so that he missed his grandmother’s funeral, a fact he still feels guilty about. The chemistry between Alex and Tristan is sizzling; it is off the charts, you can almost feel the flames as they heat up the pages. Alex struggles with PTSD and the injuries he received and now that he has been honourably discharged from service, he is determined to live the life he had to hide whilst in the military. When he and Tristan become closer, he panics and the walls that e erects become almost insurmountable. I loved how kind and caring Tristan is with Alex. I also loved how vulnerable the strong and proud Alex was with Tristan. This was a wonderful story about two hot and sexy men who fall in love. I have to say that in my opinion the speed in which they fell in love was a tad unbelievable, but then this is fiction and I suppose anything can happen. I just felt the speed with which they fell in love, detracted from the storyline and that the book might have benefited with a little further exploration as they moved towards a relationship instead of falling in love instantly. Having said that, the story was well written and I really liked the characters of Alex and Tristan, separately and together and I will be looking to read the other books in the series.

A bit of a change from what I know of Foster’s writing, this book is a male-male romance, perfect for those who are unsure about that combination in their romance. Love is love, and the combination of Tristan and Alex set out to show you that love is universal, and everything else is simply unimportant. Tristan is recovering from yet another bad relationship, stepping away from the whole “I need someone” moments while he tries to decide why no one can love him wholeheartedly, like he does. Tristan is that guy who is there for friends and family, always, and the one you should be pleased to have in your corner. Alex – so broken yet so in need of uncomplicated and uncompromising love, that sort of love and acceptance given without asking anything in return. A former military man, recipient of a Silver Star and recovering from injuries, he’s guilty, angry, depressed and struggling to find his next move. Most of all, he’s not sure that he can risk that instant spark he felt when meeting Tristan. Here is where the story excels: developing the push-pull between the two, a gentle friendship that allows both men to open up and deal with their pasts. Starting simply with Alex’s gentle encouragement, he pushes Tristan to speak his desires and stand up for what he wants…something Tristan didn’t always do. For his part, Tristan is that gentle and subtle presence for Alex, allowing him the space to face his own demons knowing that no judgement will come. Two broken men who find the courage to step forward from their past and into a future, together. Emotionally these two are struggling with being available and open to one another, but Foster reveals their insecurities and hearts so well that you can’t help but empathize. You want to see Tristan and Alex find a way through it all, to allow their palpable connection that you feel and see as a reader to become the most important thing to them both. When they do grab that chance – readers (and they) are more than ready for the fireworks, and it feels natural and logical. I wanted the best for these two, and together, living and loving, is the best. A wonderfully plotted and developed romance for everyone, and the perfect opportunity for those who have never read a male-male romance to dip their toes in. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher for purpose of honest review I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions and expectations are my own responsibility.

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Tristan is off men. Ian broke his heart and Tristan needs to recover from that. Alex arrives in town, and for Tristan, all bets are off. But Alex is, in his own words, less of a man than he was. And Alex came back to his grandmother's home to find himself again. He just didn't factor in Tristan and the connection the two of them share. Ok, so! Those of you who follow my reviews will know that I DO NOT like first person/present tense/multiple POV books. Lord knows, I say it often enough and I've dumped many a book in the first few pages once I realise they are written this way. But I NEED to say this... I DON'T CARE HERE! I don't, it didn't bother me, and I was way past a third of the book before I even clicked it was written this way!! No idea why it didn't register sooner, either. Each change is clearly headed, usually at chapter change, but even when it happened mid-chapter, I didn't mind it, not at all! Alex is damaged, emotionally and physically by his time in the army. He came to his grandmother's home after her death to recover and find himself again. Tristan has lived in town all his life, and helped run errands for Arty, so Alex and Tristan have a connection straight away. But that connection runs deep and powerful and hot and heavy right from the start. And I loved that! I loved that Tristan gave all, his heart, his soul, his very being, hard and fast and I loved that it was Alex who said those magic words first, not Tristan. I loved how, while pushing Alex to get over that which was drummed into him while in the army, he let Alex do it at his own pace. Sounds odd, I know, but it really was amazing to read these two coming together. I loved that Tristan's friends were the ones to make him see when he had a little blip about what Alex did at the hospital, throwing his own words back at him. I loved the collection of friends. This is book three in the series, and while I did not miss anything by not reading those other two books, I WANT to. I want to hear what Tristan is like BEFORE Alex, and what Ian really did to him. Because I WANT to though, not because I need to. I do, however, NEED to read any future books. I want Charley to find her forever man, and I want to see who finally lands Brandon! Because I read it in one sitting, and despite the first person/present tense/multi POV.... 5 full and shiny stars. **same worded review will appear on Goodreads, BookLikes, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com, Kobo and Barnes and Noble** * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

This is the first M/M book I have found myself enjoying it. Especially watching how they both worked through their hangups together.

Hot and hotter is what first comes to mind when I think about this book! Alex and Tristan... O M Gosh, I could feel the chemistry and attraction right off the pages. Alex and Tristan have the perfect relationship. It's a relationship filled with respect, understanding and most of all love! This is definitely another hot and steamy story from one of my favorite authors... Melisa Foster. However it was the relationship between Alex and Tristan that makes me love this book! I absolutely recommend you checking out Tempting Tristan!

I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own. I have been dying to read this and it did not disappoint one bit. This is a male/male read and whilst I have read several M/M books in the past (mostly erotica) this one was by far the best I have ever read! I loved every minute of this book from the beginning to the very end. Tristan and Alex's story is filled with so much emotion, romance and hot sex true to Melissa style, but this one was done in such a way that it didn't matter that the leads were both male, the story was strong and you will love them both. Alex has moved back to Harborside after his grandmothers death and following an honourable discharge from the Army following an accident that cost him damage to his leg - his leg is not the only that is damaged, as years of being the military has forced him to hide his sexuality. Now he is in Harborside he can finally be himself or can he? Tristan has been hurt in the past and has sworn off men for a while, that is until Alex walks into the Taproom bar. He is a brilliant character and I loved how compassionate he was toward Alex and his injuries, how he helped Alex deal with his demons and try break the mould that the military had installed so deep in him. I am not going to lie I did tear up towards the end as I was just happy that Alex stepped out his comfort zone and acknowledged Tristan the way he did - I am not wanting to spoil it you will just need to read it, but I loved that part and it made me fall in love with both characters even more. For a M/M read this was so much more that just sex, even though that was hot no lying! It was a deep connection between two men, one of which who has had to deal with the harshness of being gay in the Army - I can imagine what it must be like but I think Melissa has done a bloody brilliant job and getting those feelings and emotions across in this book. 5 stars without a doubt.

This was an interesting book for sure! Typical romance stories follow a predicable pattern: boy meets girl, girl and boy fall in love. Tempting Tristan takes a slightly different path: boy meets boy, boy and boy fall in love. Being in the military, it is almost expected that you will be a certain way and act a certain way. Alex may be a military man, but is breaking traditional stereotypes left and right. Tristan is a broken man, hurt in love before he really needs the support of a strong man to overcome his past heartaches. I really enjoyed watching their story unfold and grow from such a rocky beginning. Foster has brought us back to Harborside for a summer romance that can't be beat. I know it is officially fall, but it has been chilly long enough that I am longing for summer to come on back.

First off, this book is male/male romance. I’ve NEVER read a book that was male/male, so I wasn’t sure what I was going to feel while reading it. However, that being said, it’s a Melissa Foster book, the sex scenes are just as hot as they normally are and the book is fantastic! Tristan and Alex fall for each other hard and fast. Their story is so strong, so heartfelt, that you just can’t help but root for them to come out on top. Not knowing much, myself, about the military, I can only imagine how Alex felt being a gay man in the military. It couldn’t have been easy for him, and a part of me wishes Tristan would have realized he didn’t know how hard it was, but I know he just didn’t want to get hurt again. Read this book. It’s great!

I love Melissa Foster books and I couldn't wait to read her newest one. Tempting Tristan was a different one for me because it was male/male love story but I absolutely adored it. Melissa made this book so interesting and fun and definitely hot. Honestly was hotter than a soldier who fought hard for his country? Well Tristan is pretty hot too for a sexy bartender. This book is a must read. Tristan and Alex love story was a sweet one. I wasn't sure if the male/male storyline was going to be weird to me but it totally wasn't. I'm pretty acceptant to all lifestyles and I absolutely love a great love story and that's exactly what Tempting Tristan was. They were so thoughtful, sweet and loving to each other that it made me just fall in love with them both. Tristan is the big, strong, sensitive bartender who is one who would help anyone out. He has been let down and disappointed in past relationships and been hurt many times. He is so confident in himself and his sexuality. He is just a perfect friend and boyfriend. Alex is this tough, strong, damaged, thoughtful army soldier. He has been through a lot in his life and in war. He has had to hide his sexuality for so long that it is hard to let go and be happy and himself. He is ready for a change and ready to let go of his insecurities and Tristan is just the one to help him. This story was hot! Their commitment and love to each other is just the things I always dream a perfect relationship would be or as the teens says #relationshipgoals. So if you want a sweet and hot love story to read check out Tempting Tristan by Melissa Foster.

Melissa Foster has come through with another amazing same sex romance. I was hooked when I read Discovering Delilah and she did not disappoint with Tempting Tristan. While many may not find the male-male romance their cup of tea, Foster does an amazing job of portraying a love that I am not personally familiar with. Tristan is taking a break from relationships, after several bad decisions. We can all relate to those, right? Into his life comes Alex, who is totally opposite Tristan. Alex, who has an artist's soul, has spent years in the military and has both the physical and the emotional scars to prove it. Together, Alex and Tristan nurse each other back to health emotionally. I strongly recommend Foster's book. It is an amazing portrayal of life and love, regardless of who is in love. I received this book through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

I love Melissa's books and Tempting Tristan was no different! It was hot. It was sweet. It was romantic. It was sexy. These boys were delicious! I loved going back to Harborside where past friends are and I love that we are able to catch up and follow Tristan on his journey to finding someone who is worthy of him. Alex is hot with skeletons in his closet, but can't keep them from the big heart of Tristan. I love these two together - they are perfect together! Melissa writes amazing romance stories and while they give just enough "dirty details" they aren't gross or repulsive. The story is about the love between two people - male or female - and is what really draws me in. If you love a good romance - anything by Melissa is great - and Tempting Tristan is not to be excluded!

This is the first Melissa Foster book that I've ever read, and I will definitely be reading more from her ASAP. I loved this one. Tempting Tristan is the third book in her Harborside Nights series. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but contains characters from previous stories. I actually picked up book #1 in the series because I loved this one so much. Tristan recently single and has decided that he is on a break from men for a while. He doesn't trust his judgement when it comes to finding the right guy. He doesn't want a guy that will take adbantage of him or someone who won't give him the happiness he deserves. He has a habit of leading with his heart and falling easily. Alex is still healing emotionally from his honorary discharge from the Army. He was hurt in combat and is very touchy about the scaring he has on his body. He has spent 8 years in the Army hiding who he was (his sexuality), and now that he is out of the Army he has decided that he is going to live his life and really be "out". He still has a few hangups with the way the military has made him think and act, but he wants to change. I LOVED these two together. Melissa Foster definitely knows how to write steamy scenes. I can't even decide which of the two MCs were my favorite. I loved them both. Alex was so sweet and caring, and Tristan was too. Tristan helped Alex work through a lot of things and also worked through his own insecurities too. Can't wait to read more from Melissa Foster. ** I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. **

In the third book of the Harbornights series, Melissa Foster tackles a M/M couple. Not surprisingly, it’s a good book. I feel like Foster is able to take on any genre she wishes and excel at it. As an avid M/M Romance reader, I know I can be a little bit picky when authors who typically write heterosexual romances try their luck at M/M but Foster pens a believable and sexy story for Tristan and Alex. I really, really loved T. He’s very easy to like and fall in love with. I think within the first chapter of the book I decided that I liked him. It’s something to do with the way he sees other people. He seems to see the good in everyone. This book is written in first person and in present tense which is probably my least favorite POV. I just find it the most difficult to get into which is why I like to avoid it as much as I can, but this book still managed to be enjoyable for me. The romance does move at an excelled pace. Within the first 10% of the book there is a kiss. I was hoping for some more build up, but Foster seems to almost take it backwards a little bit which is different. I haven’t had the chance to read the other books in this series yet but I think I might have to now after having enjoyed this one so much.

Not having read any of Foster's books I wasn't sure what to expect, but the characters are very well done. Tristan may be a little more overtly emotional than Alex but both of them feel deeply and they also each have their own issues they have to overcome. Wearing his heart on his sleeve has left Tristan a little battered. While spending almost a decade in the military, hiding his sexuality, has left scars both inside and out for Alex. But together they find ways to heal and move forward, growing individually and as a couple. Some aren't going to like the insta-love thing, but I think that Foster handles it well and, even though it is fast, it progresses in a believable manner. They spend a lot of time together and have a connection thru Alex's grandmother that helps bind them even more. They are good at filling in the spaces the other needs - propping each other up and providing support when it is needed. It's an equal thing between them, as each of them have moments of weakness and strength. I have to admit that I was a little amused by some of the interactions between Tristan and Alex. One of them mentions a "sword" and it got me snickering but then I realized that while I don't know that many gay men (and those I do aren't all that vocally demonstrative) I do know guy's guys and I can see them doing something similar. You have to be OK with a little blue talk and off-kilter humor but as Foster brings you closer to the guys it just works for their relationship. You also have to be good with some very steamy m/m bedroom sequences (and anywhere else they find themselves in the mood). You should know what you are getting by the description, plus the insta-love is usually first based on insta-attraction, but just know that Foster doesn't pull any punches. Tempting Tristan is hot and sexy and emotional. Wonderful characters. A story with angst and growth but not a whole lot of drama. Easy-to-read writing. All of it adds up to quite an enjoyable read. (Even though this is part of a series it can easily stand on its own.) Honest review given voluntarily for this ARC.

What a great romance story. A well written detailed book that kept me reading to the last page. I never thought I would be into a m/m book but Melissa Foster has made this book enjoyable to read and wanting more at the end. The characters were great and really loved getting to know Tristan and following his love story with Alex. A good sexy hot romance read that’s a must from Melissa Foster. You don’t want to miss out. Highly reccomned to readers that enjoy a good romance or enjoy reading m/m reads. Melissa Foster has done a remarkable job again.

4 stars Melissa Foster is broadening my reading horizons one book at a time. I am used to reading contemporary romance novels. That is my safe place.... But with her Harborside Night Series, I am trying new things and liking them. Tempting Tristian is a M/M book. I usually don't read M.M, ut since it was Melissa's book, I gave it a try. If you have read the series, you know Tristian. He is a sweet guy who has been burned by a jerky ex. He has sworn off dating and focus in himself. That all changes when he meets Alex. Alex is totally alpha and an ex army. He is out of the army and out to the world. He is healing both mentally and physically from scars while overseas. Alex and Tristan have crazy chemistry. They both have lucked out meeting the other person. It is like they were meant for each other. Each one seems to help the other heal in ways that they need. I love this series and can't wait to see what is going to happen next!

I have seen lots of Melissa’s books but this is the first one I have read and I loved it so much. I will definitely be adding more of Melissa’s books to my TBR list. This book is a M/M romance so if that is not your thing you don’t want to read this book. Tristan is on a break from men after another bad relationship. Alex has recently moved to Harborside after 8 years in the army. Alex walks into the Taproom where Tristan works and that is all it takes. Alex and Tristan both have their own issues. Tristan from so many bad relationships where he was taken advantage of or mistreated. Alex from denying who he was for so long and from injuries sustained while in the military. Tristan is weary of getting involved in another relationship and Alex is ready to take the step to having his first one. After spending some time together Tristan knows Alex is different and he wants to try with Alex. Will their insecurities and baggage get in the way? Alex and Tristan help each other grow and overcome their baggage. I feel for Alex so much. He is dealing with guilt, anger, and so much more. You may be able to be gay in the military but that doesn’t mean everyone accepts it. Alex has lived the last eight years fighting who he really is and now he is finally free to be himself. I really loved this book. Tristan and Alex are such great characters. Tristan’s friends are great and they have their own books in the Harborside series which I have added to my TBR list already and can’t wait to read them. I can’t say enough about this book. It’s a must read. Fantastic job Melissa.

Eight to ten years ago, I would have been too meek to pick this book up and read it with an open mind. As a woman in her early 30's, I can appreciate that love comes in all forms and with people we least expect. Tristan and Alex are both wounded so naturally, they gravitate toward one another. Tristan is more open while Alex is reserved because of the social nature of his military roots but only when it comes to those situations. I think Melissa did a great job playing into the struggles that are faced when "coming out" while holding a position in the military and the transition process into the civilian world again. As I read through the dialogue, I quickly picked up on the "voice" that was given to each of them - strong yet sweet and soft. While I enjoyed the development of their love for one another, I did feel that it was a little rushed -- especially with all of the 'politically correct' strings that came with the military. However, when true love comes along, it is very strong, forceful, (often) quick and knows no boundaries in regards to gender! I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a M/M romance as much as this one. I adore Melissa Foster's many amazing stories but she's truly outdone herself with Tristan and Alex. It's beyond sexy, romantic, emotional and so very real. Issues dealt with are complicated but workable. I love the fact that these two are both gorgeous and sexy alpha men and yet their emotions are real and down to earth. The awesome well developed characters inside this story makes you want to read everyone of their tales over and over to make sure you didn't miss any of the juicy details. Harborside Nights is a fabulous series and I can't wait to read more.

Sweet and sexy! Tristan and Alex are an adorable couple, even if they do fall in love awfully quickly (total insta-love alert...) The main conflicts in the story come from Alex--the difficulties he's having dealing with the lasting implications of the life-changing injuries he suffered as a solider and the mindset of "lock down, shut up, act straight" that he felt he had to personify during his eight years in the Army. I thought Ms. Foster did a nice job of getting us into his head and showing us the effect these things had on him (OMG, when he visits the pediatric clinic? Tears. So many tears over here), though here too, things got a bit fast-tracked at the end. The healing power of love worked really, really quickly for him... Tristan, other than having had horrible taste in men up until this point, is basically the perfect partner. I kind of wanted him to reveal a flaw or two along the way, but other than getting a little testy about Alex hiding their relationship when they were back on a military base at one point (which again, he got over pretty fast--"fast" being an ongoing theme here), he was essentially Mr. Perfect Boyfriend from start to finish. This isn't necessarily a bad thing--they are a great couple and I did enjoy reading the book from start to finish--but the angst factor definitely could have been upped a degree...or five. Tempting Tristan is the third in the Harborside Nights series, and fifty-seventh(!) in the Love in Bloom one, but it still worked fine as a standalone. As in every other Melissa Foster book I've read so far, characters from past books do play a part, making you aware that there's definitely other stories going on/recently happened out there, but you'll do perfectly fine not knowing all the details. Yet. ;) Though I've gotta say, Tempting Tristan does have me pretty anxious to get to Charley and Brandon's stories ( Chasing Charley and Breaking Brandon --out soon but not nearly soon enough!) Rating: 3 1/2 stars / B- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Tristan is on hiatus from men as he recovers from a rough break-up. Alex is returning home from a tour of duty that ended with him in hospital, missing his grandmother's funeral. Tristan wears his heart on his sleeve, Alex hides behind a mask. These two are opposites in so many ways, and yet they fit each other perfectly. One of the things I loved about this is that although they both have baggage, they actually TALK about it, and try to work it through. There is no misunderstanding that goes on for weeks. Yes, they hurt each others' feelings at times, but they actually work at not doing that! Maybe it's because they're both 'older' (still a lot younger than me) but they don't play games. They know what they want, and are prepared to work to make it happen, whilst still being human and making mistakes. When I see that a book is partway through a series, even when it says it can be read as a standalone, I tend to worry slightly. With a cast of brilliant characters, Tempting Tristan can indeed be read as a standalone. The only thing I would say is that once you read this book, you will be incredibly tempted yourself to get books 1 and 2. Exceedingly well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow, this book was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. I will give a *MASCARA WARNING* though as there is one point in particular that hit me right in the feels. Highly recommended by me. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion. Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

This may just be the HOTTEST Melissa Foster book I've ever read. Read: Steamy, Sexy, and melt-your-clothes-off HOT! Tristan and Alex together are adorable and romantic and swoon-worthy. Surrounded by Harborside friends, these two characters navigate their quickly-blossoming relationship as they both deal with their individual pasts. As with her other books, Melissa weaves a beautiful love story, but has added even more heat-stoking eroticism than usual. Her signature storytelling ability mixed with the friendships and love make for a new book that you can't put down. I actually hid myself away and read it in one sitting. Tristan is the sweet, hometown guy and Alex is gruff alpha, coming home from the military. Together they are unstoppable and there is so much healing within the pages of Tempting Tristan. They struggle through things that you think would be insurmountable with grace. Breathless - Melissa left me breathless with this story. I truly cannot say enough good things about this book. Beautiful, emotional, sexy, steamy, HOT! Melissa knocked it out of the park with this one.

Tristan was thinking it was just another day of bartending until Alex Wells swaggers in and sits at the bar. Tristan has no idea that Alex came there hoping to meet him. The next day, when they accidentally run into each other on the beach, there is no ignoring the attraction between them. Getting past each other’s baggage though won’t be easy, but they mutually agree it will be worth it. I enjoyed both Tristan and Alex from the start. They had likable and inspiring personalities. I wasn’t planning on reading this story as it isn’t the genre I normally enjoy, but after reading a preview of the first chapter, I was hooked. Melissa Foster knows how to write stories that don’t just grab your interest and then wain. No, once you start one, you cannot put it down until the end. And then you beg for more. I don’t know how she does it, but I sure like it.
