Meet the Author

David Davis is the author of almost a dozen books with Pelican, including Jazz Cats, a 2002 Children's Book Choice selection; Librarian's Night Before Christmas; Nurse's Night Before Christmas; Ten Redneck Babies: A Southern Counting Book; Texas Aesop's Fables; Texas Mother Goose; and Texas Zeke and the Longhorn. Four of his books have earned spots on the Accelerated Reader list. He resides in Fort Worth, Texas.

Shelley Ann Jackson holds degrees in communication design and illustration at the university level and teaches art and design courses. A member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Jackson has published several acclaimed children's books.

Jeff Crosby holds a degree in illustration as a visual essay. A freelance illustrator for the past sixteen years, Crosby has illustrated numerous children's books and has provided artwork for publications such as the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, and GQ. He is also the illustrator of Pelican's Otis Steele and the Taileebone: A Southern Tall Tale.
