Ten Things You Should Know About This Book
1. Sebastian Grey is a devilishly handsome rogue with a secret.
2. Annabel Winslow's family voted her The Winslow Most Likely to Speak Her Mind and The Winslow Most Likely to Fall Asleep in Church.
3. Sebastian's uncle is the Earl of Newbury, and if he dies without siring an heir, Sebastian inherits everything.
4. Lord Newbury detests Sebastian and will stop at nothing to prevent this from happening.
5. Lord Newbury has decided that Annabel is the answer to all of his problems.
6. Annabel does not want to marry Lord Newbury, especially when she finds out he once romanced her grandmother.
7 is shocking, 8 is delicious, and 9 is downright wicked, all of which lead the way to
10. Happily. Ever. After.
This is the follow up book to WHAT HAPPENS IN LONDON and I adored it! It kept me in fits of giggles because Sebastian is such an awesome hero. He's not your typical tortured hero but a hero that you're going to grow to love because he's so great! I enjoyed this book immensely and this book is JQ at her best. Such a fun book! You won't be disappointed!

I love Julia Quinn. Everything she writes has always been very enjoyable. So, when I picked up Ten Things, I was prepared to be delighted... but, I was not.
While the idea for the story was sound, the writing didn't deliver. The story and action was muddled by too much internal dialogue-- and I felt very disconnected from the story. The whole book felt like a bunch of different internal rambles pieced together. Usually Quinn weaves a vibrant, visual tale full of wit and fun... this book didn't have that spark. In fact, there wasn't enough description, setting, or plot on the page for me to even be able to paint an image in my mind... or even to feel like I was a part of the action.
If this is your first Julia Quinn novel, don't be discouraged... She's a great writer and has oodles of other books for you to enjoy. For me, though, this just wasn't one of them.

There is the possibility to move up in stature as a result of a marital match but for the most part we live and die in the same general area. But this would not be true for Sebastian Grey as he was not born with a title but could in fact inherit one were his uncle not sire a son. His uncle however, really wants anyone but Sebastian to inherit his title and is determined to marry and have a son. Sebastian is therefore seen by proper London society as marriageable because perhaps, just maybe there is a possibility that his uncle at his advanced age would not have a son and Sebastian could become a titled gentleman. Sebastian states clearly that he wants nothing that his uncle has -- or so he thought until he set his eyes upon Miss Annabel Winslow, the woman his uncle decided to marry and the resulting circumstances will have the Ton talking for many a day.
Annabel is not fond of Lord Newbury with his age being the least of her concerns, but she must marry to help support the family who is dependent on her now that her father is deceased. Her maternal jaunty grandmother is trying to fix her up and marry her off even though she sees Annabel as such the unsophisticated country mouse and explains that a woman can marry one man, yet be affectionate with another. Annabel is resolved to her fate until life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Sebastian after she trips over him, literally. He is charming, handsome and so irresistible to women that you would think Annabel might know better than to steal a kiss from him. But he draws her to him so that she becomes blind to everyone and everything when he is near. He makes her feel different, special and beautiful in ways she never experienced, and lets her know that she is desired for reasons other than to produce an heir. But Sebastian's uncle will not take this lying down and when he finds that Sebastian is pursing what he rightfully believes he owns, fists are drawn and a competition for Annabel's affection is issued.
There are secrets between them but none as great as the one Sebastian is holding back from Annabel. He may have declared his love, lifelong devotion and desire to have many children, but will he confess that he is a clandestine writer who pens graphic novels under a woman's name? Can he trust her enough to tell her all his dreams and desires? Sebastian believes he can because while his writing career was a dividing point in his life and had him view himself as before and after he began his writing career he is again standing at the crossroads where he sees what his life is and what it can be with Annabel as his wife.
There are 100 things I love about this book but the main one is that it is a joy to read. Sebastian and Annabel are so full of life and each bring so much of their own story to the book that together they create magic. Julia Quinn is the gold standard for historical romance and her books are something you can anticipate reading with a great story, wonderful characters and a little bit about the gossipy London society thrown in. You know when you read her books that everything will circle around the two main characters and the draw they have for each other, but the additional characters always bring so much to the book without crowding out the main characters.

I love seeing returning characters. Quinn is always a fun read, but not shallow.

I love a book that can make me laugh with the characters and not at them, this is one such book. It is wonderful from the first page to the last!! The story in engaging, the characters are lovable, and the writing is fabulous. I've read quite a few of Ms. Quinn's books and this is by far my favorite...so far. I plan to read them all and keep reading them as she writes them!!!!

I really enjoyed the plot of this book. The romantic conflict made sense. The lovely Annabell is being courted by Sebastian's much older, titled, and jaded Uncle. Except for Annabell's grandparents everyone else can see that the marriage is not a good idea. Oh! But what to do, Annabell's family needs her to marry well in order to avoid poverty. Then Annabell meets Sebastian, the poor but handsome heir to his Uncle's title and fortune. Did I mention that the nasty Uncle hates Sebastian. Neither at first is aware if the others relationship to the nasty old Uncle, but that doesn't stop the attraction. Naturally, the young couple fall in love and have a happy ending.... but what happens along the way is interesting, funny and very entertaining. What a great summer read!

Sometimes her characters feel a bit contrived and not well conceived. This book was GREAT. Loved the dialogue, the characters and the humor. Do pick this one up.

There was a fun twist, an evil villain, a feisty heroine, and a charming hero. These words barely graze the surface of Quinn's latest work. I found Sebastian to be charming, funny, and quite kind. I think that there are moments where humor is overly worked in, but, in general, it is a fabulous read for fun.

Tbe characters were engaging and extremely likeable. I loved the fact that you get to revisit with Harry and Olivia. I am anxiously waiting for Edward's story.

The lead characters were both engaging and sweet. I liked the mention of the prior characters and scenes from the prior book, What Happens in London, too. Annabel is a wonderful female lead. She is funny, witty, romantic and thankfully, has a strong character. She wrestles with her duty to her family and protecting them, versus her own happiness. Good plot. Then comes Sebastian, the male lead. Not exactly an Alpha male, as is typical of Quinn's male leads, but he does stand up and protect quite forcefully when the time arrives. I also love evil characters who are just so evil one doesn't mind hating them and wait for the moment when they get what they deserve. Lord Newberry is definitely a great, evil character. He gets what he deserves, but it isn't what I expected! What a great book.
