    it worked well for me.

I wrote to Dr. Lydon before I started the program, a bit fearful that this diet was not for someone like me. She gave me some great encouragement and told me to go for it. I am delighted to report that in 6 weeks I lost 14 pounds and now at 9 weeks, 18 pounds in all. How is that possible, I'm asking myself? I can hardly believe it. I was literally drawn to the book in the Barnes and Nobles in Lincoln Center in New York City. I read it cover to cover and have to admit, I was somewhat skeptical when I read the testimonials. But there was something that made me want to try it myself and I gave myself one week to prove Dr. Lydon wrong. Well, within one week, I had lost 7 pounds and felt lighter and healthier and more grounded than I had in ages. 9 weeks later, I am down from 153 to 135 pounds. My children had totally proud of me we have a little ritual every Tuesday--we wake up and they weigh me and record it in my book. Then, we celebrate! Moreover, as Dr. Lydon predicted, I am not a wizened version of myself but a shapelier, stronger self. The first 2 weeks were difficult but once I past the 2 week point, it substantially eased up. I find that there is so much that I CAN eat that I don't actually feel deprived. I never ate salads or vegetables before and now I find myself scanning recipes to see if I can adapt them to the regime. I roast vegetables. I made amazing omlettes. I devised a spectacular tomato soup. Snacking is a pleasure-and how can you be hungry when you're eating nuts and yogurt and fruit? My family loves eating out 'we're New Yorkers' and I find that I can eat superbly while sticking to the diet. There is something about how the diet is laid out that makes it very easy to follow 'in a way that other diet plans are not'. You know EXACTLY what you can and cannot eat yet there is built in flexibility to account for all kinds of tastes. Before this plan, I never really used to know what was best for me and what would allow me to loose or maintain my weight. Now, no matter where I am I know what my options are and it is easy to keep on the plan, no matter where I might be. The exercise regime, while challenging, is quite streamlined so it never takes very long to do. Because of these exercises, my muscles became toned while the fat was literally melting off. My kids are so proud of me and tell me I look like those before and after pictures on infomercials. They can't quite believe that this has happened to their Mom and neither can their Mom. I am never going back to the old me. This is a diet plan that I believe is sustainable through life for all age groups. I can't wait to see what Dr. Lydon comes up with next.

50 and it worked for me !

ok, here's the deal - i just turned 50 last month and i have never felt better ( friends tell me i look great, but being dysmorphic i just take their word for it, because i'll always look like a fat 15 year old in the mirror !) the author is my sister in law, and i was one of her test cases to see how it would go if i adapted it to a vegan diet. i was not in the pictures or testimonials because i didn't follow it as it was written ( she might add vegetarian and vegan alternatives later). the truth is that i have lost 14 pounds and wear a size 4 now. this was not easy in the beginning, repeat NOT EASY - the work out was and still is a challenge. but, it's so easy to do anywhere (i have done it in hotel rooms, in tents whilst camping in the grand canyon and northern california, and even in the woods while my dogs wandered around for their walk. ) as you have probably noticed, the diet is protein-intensive. i have figured it out vegan-style now and it no longer feels like diet, it's just a way to eat and how i live. i would say that the exercises are the crucial part of the equation - and just keep it up . i noticed a difference in how i felt after three days, started looking different and fitting in my clothes differently after around 3 weeks. i never weighed myself until around 5 months down the line ( numbers upset me) and i was surprised to see the number, although i was buying smaller sizes at good will months before ! try it - and stick to it for a good couple of months. nothing comes easy, especially at 50 ! but it does feel really, really great !

Weight loss, look and feel GREAT

I purchased Ten Years Thinner from a Barnes & Nobles and have not regretted that decision. The book is very informative and helpful. Some people go on diets, but with this book it TRULY is a life style change. You are taught how to eat food as fuel for your body and how eating right can help burn fat. The exercises are so easy and you won't have spend a lot of money on expense equipment you may or may not use. I have not completed the 6 week challenge yet, but so far I have lost 10 pounds of FAT. My body is looking lean and toned. If you are tired of having a muffin top hang over your pants, then this is the Lifestyle change you need to do.

    Great, informative, effective

This book is incredibly well written and researched and describes the science behind the eating plan and exercise program it advocates. I have been doing the program for three week and have lost 5 pounds 'of the 15 I want to lose' and feel amazing. I have tons of energy. I found the program relatively simple to incorporate into my busy life. 'I am a mom to two small children and also work part time.' BIG THUMBS UP!!

    Very simple and effective plan!

I'm a skeptic regarding 'get thin quick' programs and diets. However, a friend of mine (50 year old female) had lost some weight and REALLY toned her body. When I asked how, she told me about this recent book and how well it had worked for her. So, I took the leap. In my case (49 year old male), I was mostly interested in the very simple exercize program that can be accomplished in 30 minutes and can be easily done while I'm traveling for work (no special equipment required). Well, I'm 6 weeks in, I've stuck with it, and I'm impressed by the results thus far. For me, simplicity of the exercize program was key this program is SIMPLE and EFFECTIVE!

    A reviewer

I'm 55, and apparantly that's too old to qualify for this book. Took this book home and began to eagerly read the 'testimonials' from people who had supposedly tried the Ten Years Thinner program. Could not find anyone older than 46 featured. Most of the testimonials were from people in their 20's and 30's. Helllllllooooo! Someone that is 23 years old minus Ten years thinner equals a 13 year old! My point is that age 55 does not equal nonexistent! It doesn't mean we are ready for the rocker or the rest home. It would have been really nice as well as inspiring to read a testimonial from someone in their 50's, 60's, 70's, or 80's. I'm tired of the cut off age in many books and magazines that seems to fall far short of age 50. It's a form of discrimination, and I'm not buying into that. If the author wants to sell books, is it wise to rule out whole generations? Why don't I just throw my 'old' self under a speeding train right now and get it over with? Isn't fitness and exercise a good thing for all age groups? I'm returning this book tommorrow.
