Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Termite is a funny little fellow who eats, bounces, bites, and flies his way into trouble in a set of four books packaged together. With almost slapstick humor, the author/illustrator creates stories that can be easily read by looking at the illustrations. The engaging pictures help young readers decode the text, though the concepts might be more difficult for them than the text: An ostrich tries to fly with a termite friend perched on her back, the termite sculpts his image out of a tree stump, and the termite bounces indoors on a trampoline. The set of eight-page books are marketed to parents to help them encourage their children as they learn to read. They are part of a series called "Brand New Readers." The books are small, with introductory suggestions for parents, and they are fun. Young children will enjoy finding out what scrapes Termite gets into next. 2005, Candlewick, Ages 4 to 8.
