Overview

Jim Marrs presents the official government pronouncement on 9/11 as an obvious conspiracy. The only question is whose conspiracy it was. According to the government, the conspiracy involved about nineteen suicidal Middle Eastern Muslim terrorists, their hearts full of hatred for American freedom and democracy, who hijacked four airliners, crashing two into the Twin Towers of New York City’s World Trade Center and a third into the Pentagon, near Washington, DC. The fourth airliner reportedly crashed in western Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to overcome the hijackers. To add insult to injury, this whole incredible Mission Impossible operation, which defeated a forty-billion-dollar defense system, was under the total control of a devout Muslim cleric using a computer while hiding in a cave in Afghanistan.

Primarily using mainstream media and government reports, Marrs has crafted the definitive journalistic account exposing the likely complicity of the Bush administration in the 9/11 attacks, providing a history of the overt and covert causes of the events. However, his analysis goes far beyond 9/11, enabling us to understand the motivation behind American foreign policy, with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq as primary examples of the US government’s secret agenda.

    Are you kidding me?

This book is so ridiculously far-stretching, it should be classified under the 'Humor' Section. Section after section I kept nearly putting the book in the trash! However, what's keeping me reading it (I'm half-complete now) is the fact that as the book progresses, the next 'conspiracy' is more ridiculous than the last. The 'Remote Viewing' Chapter trying to persuade me/you to believe that 'psychics' were involved is almost something for the Sci-Fi Channel.

The impression I got out of this book is that it's trying, too hard, to CREATE a false, dramatic 're-creation' of the EVENTS WE VISUALLY WITNESSED and spin it to look like some 'covert' act perpetrated by Israel or the U.S. itself (allowing it to happen).

Stupid book! Remote Control takeovers of the planes, military shootdowns, controlled intentional demolition of the towers themselves.

History repeats itself folks! Beirut Marine Barracks bombing, US Embassies, USS Cole Bombing, Somalia, Jakarta, Australia, Spain, England, Phillipines, '93 bombing of WTC, etc.

ALL PERPETRATED by Islamic Fundamentalists!!! Don't believe these quacky 'Conspiracy Theories'...

I'll now read then next 'Sci-Fi' section for more laughs!

    Great comedic writing!

    The most worthless book ever?

Before you discard this review as being written by a non-believer, let me say that I was an air traffic controller at work on the morning of 9/11/01, and I KNOW that things happened that the public was never told about. Some might even call me a conspiracy theorist as I also believe that there was more than 1 gunman in Dealy Plaza, and that there are even questions surrounding the death of Robert Kennedy. Bearing that in mind, I strongly recommend you avoid this book. Most books of this nature have a central theory or point, and then present facts that support and prove said theory. Mr. Marrs has instead elected to present no central theory about 9/11, and just presents bits of information here and there that all might have something to do with the events of 9/11, but he does nothing to tie any of them together nor does he identify how any of them fit into whatever point he is trying to prove. It's almost as if he decided to throw as much mud as he could and hope that some of it stuck. Unfortunately, Mr. Marrs also has the habit of presenting a "fact" and then later in the book contradicting this "fact" with opposite or alternate information. For instance, at one point he claims that the 4 aircraft involved on 9/11 were hijacked as reported by the press, while mere pages later he claims that the aircraft were remotely flown by government insiders. He even went so far as to attempt to support one of his claims by using psychics to determine if members of the government were lying or knew more than they were telling. Then there was his attempt to somehow link 9/11 with Nazi Germany and also with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor (and not just in a comparative manner - he was alleging an actual connection). It's your money, spend it on this book if you really want to. I would advise against it though.

A little advice for those that will undoubtedly discredit this book...

It doesn't matter which side of this issue you stand (someone seeking the truth vs. a mindless, spoon-fed sheep), the fact remains that Jim Marrs identifies holes, discrepancies, misrepresentations, lies, omissions, etc. in the official 9/11 Commission Report that should bother every American citizen... enough so that they are motivated to investigate further. If you already subscribe to his conspiracy theory, then this book is a no-brainer... I'm sure you'll enjoy it thoroughly. If you don't buy into his conspiracy theory, then do some research after you read this book and formulate a better theory. Regardless of where you stand, every intelligent person has to admit that the 9/11 Commission Report is at least 50% fiction, if not more. It's just a matter of common sense. A simple review of the facts is all it takes (and perhaps a reasonable understanding of basic conceptual physics). If you aren't convinced by the obvious, then I recommend you put down this book and get back to the flock... I'm sure they miss you. Don't submit a review discrediting this book just because you don't agree with the author's opinions or conclusions (or his previous books). You'd be wasting everyone's time, including your own. Doing so would be a clear indication that you missed the point completely: (1.) Be angry that you were lied to. (2.) Be angry that your civil liberties are being systematically stripped from you. (3.) Seek out the truth. It's as simple as that. To quote the first sentence in this author's earlier book about the JFK assassination ('Crossfire'), 'Do not trust this book.' He goes on to say that he has simply collected and presented evidence... you be the judge. If you read this book and still wholeheartedly believe the 9/11 Commission Report, then I'd like to discuss with you a proposition wherein you transfer all of the money in your savings account over to my savings account. It's a matter of national security. Really. Trust me. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's required by the USA PATRIOT Act, so you better get to it, my little sheep. If you love America and the Constitution as dearly and passionately as I do, then seek out the truth. This book is a good place to start.

    Thought Provoking!

I am a historian and Marrs puts this together beautifully. He did have some off tilt comments that submerged his own propaganda into the theories however there are not many writers today that don't. The logic is sound in most cases and the dots can surely be connected. However, more detail and research is needed in the individuals that he has named in order to be considered definitive.

    Highly recommended

If you believe in physics and science then this book will show you the truth regarding 911. If you like to bury your head in the sand, keep it there. This book is not for you. Simple answers to some very simple questions would clear all of this up. What the government is afraid of, I don't know. Perhaps it is the truth. You decide.

    Excellent

Jim Marrs' book, The Terror Conspiracy: Deception, 9/11 and the Loss of Liberty, examines the obvious problems with the government's account of the events of 9/11. He cites numerous reliable sources as well as many eye witnesses who were ignored by the government in their official report. He also discusses the underlying government conspiracies that may have allowed 9/11 to happen.
Even if you think conspiracies are for the birds, there are "facts" in the official story that just don't add up. The government's claims of the events of 9/11 are consistently challenged and inconsistencies and inaccuracies in their report are revealed to be more than just rumor. He questions the legitimacy of a fire causing the collapse of both buildings; a man who certified the steel used for the towers said that "the buildings should have easily withstood the thermal stress caused by pools of burning jet fuel" (Marrs 53). He also cites eye witnesses who were absolutely positive that they felt bombs go off in the building from below ground level.
The amount of evidence against the official story is overwhelming. He includes both sides of the story and readers would be amazed to see much the government is disproved. The entire book is meticulously organized, making it an interesting page-turner to say the least.
