The first anthology of writings on the history, ethics, politics and tactics of the Animal Liberation Front, Terrorists or Freedom Fighters? features both academic and activist perspectives and offers powerful insights into this international organization and its position within the animal rights movement.
Calling on sources as venerable as Thomas Aquinas and as current as the Patriot Act—and, in some cases, personal experience—the contributors explore the history of civil disobedience and sabotage, and examine the philosophical and cultural meanings of words like “terrorism,” “democracy” and “freedom,” in a book that ultimately challenges the values and assumptions that pervade our culture. Contributors include Robin Webb, Rod Coronado, Ingrid Newkirk, Paul Watson, Karen Davis, Bruce Friedrich and others.
About the Author:
Steven Best, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas, El Paso, and has published numerous books and articles on philosophy, cultural criticism, social theory and animal rights. A. John Nocella is a peace activist who teaches workshops on mediating and negotiating in revolutionary environments.

The book was interesting to read and gave many different view points. I had to read this for a college class and I had my bias, Now i am really confused. there is alot as an American we do not look at things in a healthy way anymore.I believe porngraph to be the greatest sin in our country, not only abusing children, women and men but, yes, animals. So, this book had open my eyes to how lazy as American we are not to do anything to stop this stuff. If it has to do with hollywood and the script reader then everyone think there God down there and will do what they says. Maybe, we could have a show on t.v. how many way to kill an animal or How to beat the hell out of your dog for fun. This is what we are doing to mink. So, let put it on prime time. Good bookWas this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
