Test planning with TMMi practices: Assuring the quality by applying Continuous test planning methods with TMMi practices
Every Software project needs to follow the certain industry processes and the standards to get the quality products for any business operations. While planning for these processes adoption, one needs to think whether they can be used strategically to produce the quality software by having incremental process improvements. When the management pursues such kind of thoughts, Test Maturity Model integration[TMMi] is one of the famous processes integration package in parallel to CMMi. The TMMi has been getting popular due to its detailed specific process areas and it has easy adoptable capabilities. I have used TMM and TMMi in many of my previous projects for different customers around the world for different business domain areas through my past services rendered to IT services companies. While planning for implementation we need to get the management commitment also where they agree to adopt incremental process improvements to gain the software quality incrementally. Without having; the resources trained and motivated continuously and constantly by getting their commitment, it is impossible to implement a new setup. Hence the management also needs to understand the test organization setup needs and its continuous improvements. At the same time the development team also needs to adopt some of the CMMi processes in parallel to the TMMi processes. Then only through both the teams it is possible to have the roadmap for incremental quality software programme implementation. I felt to share the TMMi implementation knowledge to the global IT professionals to impart this kind of motivation and the practices for their IT organizations. As a part of my initial thought I started with the Book "Following TMMi practices to produce Quality software products " which contains the Test policy and strategy process implementation by using its goals and specific practices with live examples. In this book, I have presented the test planning process area with its goals and specific practices with the implementable examples. You can keep looking for other books those contain the remaining process areas for Level2. Without having the Level2 processes in practices it is not advisable to consider other levels of TMMi. About the Author

The author is an IT professional with 25 years of global experience. He could involve in many QA/Testing projects in different roles for different customers engagements. He could manage and execute projects from Y2K resolutions to open systems for most of the technologies. He could work for business domain areas like; BFSI, Telecom, Retail, Healthcare and service operations. He worked in the countries; Saudi Arabia, USA, Canada, HK, UK, AU and Singapore for different top 100 companies engagements.

When he worked with the above engagements, he could find lot of education is lacking among the teams due to their motivation levels are different while performing their roles. Particularly in testing projects one need to be competent in business domain, technology, processes, standards and policies. In many places he could use CMM/CMMi processes. For testing projects he started using TMM initially and later TMMi practices. He could mentor and guide lot of teams. These helped me to bring up not only the product quality and also the team's knowledge acquiring faster to complete their responsibility within the schedule. At the same time the development teams also used to get lot of knowledge to use defect prevention activities.

Through his TMMi implementation experiences, he thought of sharing the knowledge and experiences for future activities of global testing professionals on how to practice the TMMi processes, goals and their specific practices with live examples. Certainly with these examples he feels many professionals can start doing on their own without having a mentor or a consultant support. Initially, he started publishing the books for TMMi level2 process practices.

As a part of it, his 1st book has introduction, Test policy and strategy process practices.

In this book he has elaborated on Test planning specific practices areas with implementable examples.

He would be releasing for other processes also shortly. The readers are requested to send their suggestions if any for further improvements.
With my past experience and the knowledge gained, he would like to utilize it to share through writing the books and distribute them internationally. So that the readers could save some of their time by using those experiences and techniques. Hopefully these books can bring up their skills groomed well for their regular and work life. He would like to bring up the Non-IT topics related books also from his experiences.
