Texas Roads by Cathy Bryant is a good read about wealthy widow who longs for a “home” and Texas mayor/rancher.  Dani has never felt like loved by her parents who were more interested in their place in society.  Dani goes to Miller’s Creek to meet her aunt from whom her mother is estranged.  The town of Millers Creek is attempting to revamp and bring people to town but needs funding.   Most of the story was more or less predictable but it was well written and I enjoyed reading it.

I really liked this story about Dani Davis who was missing something in her life and that was a place she could really call home. When goes to a small town names, Miller’s Creek, she seems to have found what she was looking for; a mother figure, a cowboy, a welcoming town and maybe God. The story has a little of everything in it, love, laughter, tears and a little bit of mystery in it as well. The characters are well written and likeable and the story moves at a good pace. I love the fact that it is a Christian book but it’s not preachy.I would like to have a little more at the end of the book. I felt there could have been more written but who knows, maybe the author has a Miller’s Creek part 2 coming up about what happens next with Dani and the cowboy, Steve.

Why discuss her company and how she was going to take back control and then leave us hanging? If this had closure, would have rated book higher

Texas Roads, A Miller's Creek novel***** book 1 by Cathy Bryant Dani Davis has longed for a place to call home for most of her life. She travels to visit her aunt, Aunt Beth—called Mama Beth by everyone in town—in the small town of Miller's Creek, Texas. Close to town she runs out of gas, cowboy Steve Miller comes along in his beat-up truck and takes her to town. She soon falls in love with Miller's Creek, but is this the home she has been searching for? I too fell in love with Miller's Creek, love the cozy little town and the characters that live there. Mama Beth's strong faith, wisdom and love captured my heart from the start. Dani and Steve were determined to not like each other—each for their own reasons. I wanted to sit them down with Mama Beth and have a good talking to. Little Bo is a sweetheart who also captured my heart. Then there are the “old geezers”, as they are called, they certainly livened up the story and brought humorous antics which made me chuckle. Of course there were a couple people that I did not care for at all, but things happen later that I found myself changing my mind about them—somewhat. There is mystery, past secrets, grief, joy, anger, destruction, charm, forgiveness, restoration, unexpected surprises, secret revealed in a devastating way that changes lives in dramatic ways, love, romance and faith and more. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one in the series.

Life in a small town seems like Heaven to Dani after big city life in Dallas,  The only problem is where you go- there you are.  The mistrust she feels is reflected off other people and right back at her.  The more she tries to do good in secret, the more suspicious she looks.  Some of the people in this book are the sweetest you'll ever meet!  Mama Beth is everyone's favorite mother/ grandmother.  Dani's mother is a relative of Cruella.  What is the big divide between the sisters?  What is it that makes small town life appealing to Dani?  When will the townspeople wake up to not everything is the way it looks?  Will Dani and Steve ever figure out how to communicate without having to apologize the next day?  Just start this book and you will read until you find out!  This book was non-stop "just a little further" until suddenly I was at the end!

I loved this book. This is the first book I have read by this author, but it definitely won't be my last.  I read the book in one setting because after I got caught up in the lives of Dani and Steve I couldn't put it down.  There are twists and turns and surprises in the story line that kept me reading.  It is also a wonderful story showing God's love and the joy of finding that place that is really "home".
